First off I have never been to such a wonderful place with so few people. It was as if we had a private showing. We climbed to the top of the tallest building and when we reached the top we were startled by the screaming of the Howler monkeys. It was an amazing topper to our day.

If for any chance you find your self in this part of Belize, DONT MISS the ruins.

Located on top of the hill, the resort and museum are right next to each other. Great view and food. Try the pineapple chicken. Out of this world.

We went to Xunantinich, Caracol, and Tikal, but this site had more royalty residential rooms to view, more compact, and easier to navigate. It is in a beautiful setting and, unfortunately, not too visited (which is also a good thing!). Don't miss this gem.

Cahal Pech Mayan ruins are beautiful, they pack some of the best architectural views in the area. I loved the maze-like plazas, you could go inside a place and come out in a different one, ruins from one level up to three if you like to go and explore. This place is ideal to spend and afternoon with the family, it is easy to get there, clean and well preserved.

Most tours do these together and as a pair they work well, being rather close. They are a really good example of Maya architecture, still rather devoid of tourists and, to be honest, well described by the other reviewers.

Do not miss them, easy to reach, easy to get round and rather good.

See them before Tikal to really appreciate them. Don't miss the small visitor centre and enjoy the drive there.
