“Worth the US $15 admission fee”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

Worth the US $15 admission fee to see native birds and animals in a natural Belize setting. Good signage. Certain animals may not be seen, if in the middle of the trees or foliage; others may be just a foot or so from you on the other side of the cage wire.

“Nice hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

We were staying at Chaa Creek and walked over to the gardens, it's also easy to canoe over to the gardens from the lodge.
Beautifully laid out gardens, and a fire tower to climb up for a great view.

“Large and beautiful place to walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

When you stay at DuPlooys Jungle Lodge you can walk through this huge garden any time you wish. Things are well labled and there is a nice view point up the hill and river walk as well so many different ecosystems are seen and a Maya dwelling is in the middle.

“Oasis”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

This attraction is a ways out of San Ignacio but we were able to arrange a pick up in Bullet Tree Falls from the Gardens itself and a tour. In fact our driver was a gardener there and we had a great talk on the way about his work. He also took us on a tour of the garden. It is possible to be self-guided, but it was great to interact with him as he was very excited about his work.

It is a large area with many different species. I think that they are trying to see what kind of plants can be introduced into Belize that would be profitable.

but in any case it is a beautiful quiet country setting and worth the trip. There is also a restaurant on the premises that was very good, and somewhat high end but not unreasonable.

“Best self-guided tour ever!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

Can be reached by canoe or 4WD or bus and (longish) walk. Alternatively stay at du Plooys.

Its lovely and has the best self guided tour ever (booklet at entrance or from du Plooys. leave your copy for the next people in the holder provided).
Wife read everything out, took 3 hours, was fun and despite maze of paths, easy to do (watch out for #3 down side alley). Quite a bit of wildlife including invisible nightjar (pointed out by staff), if you keep alert. NB Much about Belize trees, despite pics below.

If you gave a little warning you could probably organise lunch at du Plooys (on site).

Really a little gem and puts plants alongside birds, caves, ruins, beach, snorkelling and boating in this busy little country!
