This place is perfectly located to "town" (3 minute walk) and Shamera is a great help and goes out of her way to accommodate. We booked our airport pickup, tours, and accommodation though Rainforest and when we missed a flight and were delayed to the next day, it was one quick call and all was taken care of. Rooms was large, comfortable and clean. There is even a kitchen and large patio on the top floor with a great view. Thanks for the great stay!

Room Tip: The top room is very private with a huge patio area in front. Local dogs are quite noisy however.

Thank you Shamera and Jorje for a lovely stay. We were very comfortable in the two bedroom kitchenette unit. The location was central, quiet, and close to everything. The overhead fans were great, all we needed at night though the air conditioner was there if we wanted it. You were full of information that was so helpful. You went above and beyond when you drove us to your favourite restaurant (delicious), and later helped us download our camera to our iPad.

Room Tip: The two bedroom suite with kitchenette is excellent for 3 or more people.

From the moment that we arrived at the Rainforest Haven Inn, Shamera was all smiles and very willing to help with anything. We stayed for 6 nights and did several tours during our stay. Shamera told us about the iguana sanctuary and we were so glad she did. What a great experience and learning tour. My husband and I were the only ones on the tour so we had all the iguanas to ourselves. Too much fun. The location of the guest house was perfect, not so close to the downtown activity that it was noisy and close enough to be within walking distance of almost everything and very safe. Our room was large, clean, and plenty of storage. Having the communal kitchen and lounge area was very handy and we made lots of use of the roof top viewing deck. Jorge is in the process of adding some shade and hammocks up there. Should be very nice when it's done.
This wonderful warm couple also shared one of their favourite dining places with us and even drove us there. Sanny's Grill for anyone looking for some awesome jerk chicken amongst many other choices. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone on a budget or not. Shamera can book any tours for you although we had already pre-planned our tours.
It was so nice to stay in a place where you are a name and not a room number, the service was exceptional. Many thanks to Shamera and Jorge for their kindness and helpfulness.

The Inn is a short walk or $2.50 BZ taxi ride from the bus station. The main tourist area is a 5 min walk . Shamira, the manger was very responsive to all my needs and questions. The room was clean, large and the full kitchen a bonus! Two Mayan ruins are close to the hotel. Cahal Pech is a 25 minute walk and Xunantunich an in short bus or taxi ride. I always felt safe at the Rainforest Haven Inn and will return. Thank you, Shamira for being such an excellent host.

PROs: The hotel/Inn is located just about 5 Minutes walk from the main place/main street in San Ignacio, which makes it perfect to walk to and from there to the hotel at day and night. The rooms are spacious, come with 2 big nice natural wooden beds with clean sheets. The rooms have a good airconditioning which is needed during hot days. Aside that find TV, a fridge inside the room, a private bathroom and shower. Outside the room find a nice terrace overooking the town at sunset, a common area with TV and a shared kitchen. Even wifi in the rooms (a bit slow though). All you need.
CONs: The room itself (building) as a bit old and especially the also spacious bathroom looks a bit interesting. As it lies directly at the street it was very noisy at night: Cars all night and drunken people yelling. Others than that is very good.

From the time we arrived to the time we left, Shamira, the hotel manager was there to help us and very helpful with answering any questions about the local area and even set us up on some fantastic tours! This is definitely a great place for the budget traveler. Nothing too fancy, just clean affordable and very accommodating. By Belizean standards, this is a great place to stay. No there isn't a restaurant or fancy pool. Just good rooms with a/c. And shower. There are plenty of great places to eat and shop just two blocks away. Shamira was great at advising us in the local restaurants and attractions. They even have a common area kitchen up in the upper floor for your using as well. While touring Xunantunitch, we met another couple there that had driven four hours that morning to see the ruins. They were wanting to stay in the area and do the ATM cave the next day. Shamira was very accommodating and was able to give them a great price on the only room available. The Cahal Pech ruins are only a ten minute walk away too. Definitely stay here if you are a budget traveler looking for a great place to stay!

Our family of four stayed in room 5 which had 2 queen beds, A/C, TV, large bathroom with hot shower. Next door is a full kitchen with fridge and filtered water. Shamera is extremely helpful and very welcoming. She provides laundry services for a small fee. We had a rental car and with advanced notice, she allowed us to park it on the side of the inn behind a gate. The inn is located part way up a hill so it still close to all the restaurants and shops but far away from much of the city’s noise.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Unlike a new hotel, the Rainforest Haven Inn in San Ignacio, Belize is an historical structure, formerly home to Busman Arnold, a Belizean entrepreneur. Each room is unique with air conditioned, cable TV, private hot and cold bath, mini refrigerator and free WiFi. What makes us unique is that we are the only accommodation in the downtown area that offers a roof deck with a 360 degrees view. Perfect to drink your morning coffee or relax in a hammock with a drink. Guests have access to a full kitchen on the third floor which is perfect to make a quick meal, warm your food or make some coffee. We are about a 3-5 minute walk to restaurants, grocery shops, banks, tour agencies, bus terminal etc. Everything is very close without feeling like you are in the thick of it. On site there is also Traveller's Maya Juice (education rum tasting room), Marie Sharp's Tourist Center & Culinary Class (come cook like a local), and a gift shop. ... more   less
