We just happened to be introduced to Sergio after having a few drinks at Flayva's. We booked a tour to the ATM caves with him and, although he was sick the day of our tour, we still had an amazing time with his son as our guide. I can't imagine a tour like this being available in the USA with all of the potential for lawsuits, so it was cool that we could find adventure in Belize.

The cave tour included swimming in cold water, climbing through caves in complete darkness, hiking through the forest, and viewing some of the most amazing artifacts. Instead of seeing these treasures through glass in a museum, we were able to see them up close in person inside of the caves in which they have been for the past 1,000 years.

Also, after the tour, we happened to bump into Sergio again and he hung out with us for about 90 minutes just drinking, smoking, and talking. He has some pretty amazing stories, so if you get the chance, offer him a beer and see if he has time to share a story or two.

Sergio, sorry we didn't find you again at Flayva's the day we got back from Tikal. We dropped by to tell you how it went, but we must have missed you.

If you are going anywhere near San Ignacio, please book a tour with Sergio. You will not regret it! Destiny Tours is housed in the coolest, most chill restaurant in San Ignacio, Flayva's, and Sergio is the greatest. Be careful because right across the street from them is Mayawalk. They have a very fancy lit up sign and a very pushy, guy in the street trying to sell tours, so be prepared to say no to him and walk right into Flayva's to book a tour with Sergio and Destiny Tours.
We walked into town with a recommendation from a guy we met in Caye Caulker, and what a great recommendation it ended up being! We were hot and tired, and we sat down and started talking to Sergio about the different tours he offered. The greatest waiter ever (Shannon) brought us a couple cold Belikins and we sat and talked with Sergio for a long time. He was never ever pushy, even though we were super indecisive and kept on trying to bargain with him. He was very nice helpful, and professional, also very friendly and cracking jokes with us.
We ended up booking a tour to the ATM (Actun Tunichil Muknal) It was the most amazing experience. Exciting, scary, and really quite mystical, since there are ancient Mayan pots, tools, and skeletons deep inside the cave. Some tourist dropped a camera on a skull a few months ago, so now there are no cameras allowed inside. It was actually kinda nice because then we were really able to experience without taking photos the whole time. Our guide was Carlos Panti, he was awesome!
Later in the week we booked another tour with them to the Mountain Pine Ridge (again with Carlos as the guide) And Sergio ended up taking us to the airport for a great price on our way home. If I ever make it back to San Ignacio, I will most definitely be doing some tours with Destiny Tours. Thank you for helping to make our trip so great!

When researching for things to do, I came across many reviews about the ATM cave tours but didn't really consider it. On our first day in San Ignacio, we ate at Flayva's and our waiter asked about our plans and introduced us to Sergio. After chatting a bit with Sergio we decided to do the ATM cave tour with his company.

On a side note, we were first approached by someone from Mayawalk tour company and they offered $75/person for the same tour ($85 with Destiny Tour). Somehow it worked out that we went with Destiny. Because during the tour we met someone who booked his tour with Mayawalk and the tour was cancelled last minute. He also mentioned that he went on a day tour to Tikal with Mayawalk and they were late picking him back up at the Guatemala-Belize border by 2 and half hours and didn't try to communicate to him that they were gonna be late.

Sergio Jr was our driver, Carlos and Danny were our tour guides. We split up into 2 groups of 7 and my group was with Carlos. Carlos is super knowledgeable about Mayan culture, plants, and the cave. The trip was very adventurous and informing. We climbed, swam, threaded through the cave in the dark for a bit, and talked about how we feel about what we saw, felt and learned about on this trip. I don't think we could've had a better tour guide! Highly recommend Destiny Tour and Carlos for your ATM cave tour!

We had an orange, plantain chips, and a chicken salad sandwich for lunch, which we ate by the opening of the cave. Food was delicious and view was amazing! We also smelled and chewed on a bunch of different plants Carlos picked out (one was for malaria and it tasted exactly like my malaria pills - super bitter!)

My husband and I booked a tour to Tikal with Sergio (Destiny Tours). Sergio was unable to go with us on the day we had booked (he was ill)...but came to the hotel to pick us up and tell us that his son, Sergio Jr. would be taking us. The trip was great. Sergio Jr. helped us with the border crossing and change of drivers/vans. When we arrived at Tikal National Park- we picked up our park guide- Abel. He was amazing. He told us loads of facts about Mayan life and about the ruins we were seeing. He paced the tour to our needs and what we wanted to do. He could spot pieces of Mayan pottery and tools everywhere. He told us about the plants and their uses and spotted and pointed out many animals to us. We really enjoyed him. We had a pleasant lunch at the restaurant right outside the park. Then we began the trip home. It was a very enjoyable day thanks to our guides. I would recommend this tour company if you want knowledgable and friendly people to show you the ruins....

We stumbled upon Flayva's Restaurant and met Sergio of Destiny Tours. After some chit chat we booked a tour with Sergio to the Xunantunich Myan Site. During the tour Sergio was both knowledgable and entertaining. He was also patient with us "tourists" who seem to take photos at every turn and wander through every tourist market. It was just us and another couple, and felt like our own personal tour. On the way back to town, Sergio stopped into a grocery store so we could purchase cold drinks. We plan to return to Belize with our children next time and will be booking our adventures with Destiny Tours without hesitation. Thanks for the perfect day Serigo!
