We were in San Ignacio early August and went looking for the "new" Eva's. Apparently, after it moved, it closed down recently.

The names for the different restaurants is a bit confusing. You will find Evas, two blocks west of burns on the corner of far west st and waight ave. This may or may not be related to the old Eva's on Burns that ever guidebook talks about as being "the" place for setting up tours; that is now Flayvas under new management and ok for food and with cheap drinks. The new Eva's sucked. It is not on the main street and the food and service are not good. The majority of people there now seem to just go there because they assume it is the original place everyone talks about. There are nearby places called Elviras and Ervas that we didn't go to.

Nice, eccentric server. All dishes were WAY too salty. Drinks didn't seem to have any alcohol, or very much flavor for that matter.

Had the chance yesterday to eat with a group of friends at the new Eva's location, which is one block from downtown. It was fantastic! We tried 4 different items off the menu, and every one was top notch. The chicken curry was great. The escabeche soup was the best we'd ever had. The chicken fried rice was really good, and the Belizean stewed chicken was fantastic. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the salad dressing, which was just a little bit salty - but we still polished off every last morsel.

One piece of advice: Don't confuse the new Eva's with the old location on Burns Avenue. They are totally different, and the vibe at Flayva's, which simply took over the old location, will stop me from ever going there again - it really feels like the first 50 meters of Burns Avenue has gone seriously downhill. Besides that, downtown is as great as ever.

The new Eva's was actually putting in a bar as we were eating there yesterday. It will double the size of their current space - I guess it didn't take them long to let everyone know that the great food keeps coming. Netty, the owner, was nice, helpful, and full of information. Eva's was clean and much cooler than outside, which was nice since it was quite warm. I didn't see any computers for free internet, like they had at their old location, and I'm not sure if they have free wifi yet. They don't have a website yet, but are listed multiple times on the Best of Cayo site.

While it didn't look like they did tours from Eva's, it looked like they highly recommended Pacz Tours, which we all recommend, from the pictures on the walls. Speaking of highly recommending: Eva's was great, and I'll be eating there often, I'm sure. It's great to go to a place, and run into plenty of other people you know. When all the locals go to one spot, you can be assured it's a great place.

Evas is recently changed to the name Flayvas (Management is the same, just name dispute with past owner). The people emplyess there will take amazing care of you for food, drink, tours, or just meeting locals and tourists. It is located on the main street across from an amazing sri lanken restaurant. The best part about Flayvas is the sightseeing hub. Serge and Max run a great ship. Any tour you want to do (we did Caracol, Cave Tubing, and Barton Creek) they will do it for the cheapest (20% off for groups of 5+). Our favorite guide was Sellmo, whose specialty is Caracol, and does he ever know Caracol.
