“Go with a Guide!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

We were blown away by this caving adventure. Be sure that you take a guide with you so you can go past the beginning part into the depths of the cave and learn. You will not be disappointed. The formations and Mayan pottery were unbelievable!

....keep it that way! Keep away. Mums the word. Don't let the cat out of the bag. Don't tell anyone. Don't go there. Don't write a review.

“Nice Outing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

I took the bus from Belmopan to St. Herman's cave and did the short cave hike and the hike to the blue hole. The cave path is well groomed but the path to the hole is a bit rugged, but a nice hour hike. Lots of wildlife in the area, hummingbirds, pauraquay and saw 2 gray fox.

Decent diversion if you are riding the bus through the area and need a break.

“Outlook Tower hike is INTENSE”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2012

We paid our PACT fee and we were told to not go past 200 ft. into the cave. The cave wasn't super exciting, as it's a cave. The trail was quite slippery and it didn't seem like there was much to see...and I didn't see much.
Afterward we saw the signs for the outlook tower, either a half mile trail or the mile trail. We took the half mile trail and it felt like it was at least a mile with the degree of difficulty involved. On the way down we took the mile trail, which felt like 2 miles.
Apparently we weren't supposed to take the trail, though nothing was said to us. And we ended up emerging about an hour after the park closed. And fortunately when we emerged the woman who sold us the passes was right there because they were coming to look for us...just an unfortunate sequence of events.
Be careful with the outlook tower trails (both of them!) bring plenty of water and load up on bug spray. Also watch out for the ant highways!
Because we took the trail we were unable to visit the Blue Hole.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 29, 2012

Loved the quiet hike through the cave. People are only allowed with a tour guide, so it is a nice isolated spot. It takes about 2-2.5 hours to take a short jungle hike to and from the cave. Our tour guide was Omar...ask for him!
