Staying at this jungle lodge may be the most memorable part of our honeymoon! This beautiful lodge is remote yet offers unexpected quality. The location in the Belizian jungle makes traveling to and staying here a wonderful experience unto itself however they offer tours to turn this stay into a true adventure.

The service and food were outstanding and impressive. The lodge has a limited number of rooms and the staff truly goes out of their way to be friendly and make your stay the best it can be. Out of many favorite moments one simple example was seeing toucans while we were eating breakfast.

If you are considering a trip here and are afraid it's too remote or rustic you will be very surprised at the quality of the rooms and service in an unforgettable location. It took some convincing to talk my wife into going to the jungle for part of our trip but upon leaving she wished we had more time at Sleeping Giant.

I took my mom for her birthday & I cannot express what an amazing time it was! We felt like we were with friends because everyone who works there truly cares about every guest & how they feel while they are there. Giovani is a fabulous chef. Berta is a beautiful woman who put together a very special table with "happy birthday" spelled out in flowers for my mom one night. I even made friends with Orlin, a groundskeeper, who showed me how to open a coconut & told me all about anything I asked. I could go on & on but in the end I have only extremely positive things to say about Sleeping a Giant. Giovani, the manager, does a wonderful job creating a perfect vacation for anyone whether seeking adventure or peace. I hope to return someday. Alison :)

My boyfriend and I spent three nights in the River Casita and fell in love with Sleeping Giant! The room was gorgeous and carefully thought out. We even had an outdoor tub for a hot soak after a day in the caves! The staff made us feel like family and took care of every little thing. We had thought we would be 'roughing it' in the jungle or that we might get bored without a beach, but the experience was completely luxurious and the team helped pack our agenda with incredible excursions from 8am til evening. We did the River of Caves and Night Hike on the first day (spotted a boa, basilisk, and tarantula), and ATM on the second (which is now at the top of my list of coolest travel experiences ever). There is a pool at their sister property as well as a river to cool off in, and they are adding a pool to the property at the moment. Didn't need a fitness center as we got a great outdoor workout by hiking, climbing, and swimming around on cave excursions. And the food was delicious as well, wonderful to come back to after a day of adventure. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: The River Casita rooms are brand new and have a sweet outdoor tub!

I seriously cannot express enough just how wonderful our stay here was. The accommodations were great, the food was amazing, and the staff was the friendliest and most accommodating I've ever experienced. They were very helpful in organizing our excursions and went out of their way to make sure we were always enjoying ourselves. I would very highly recommend this place to anyone going to Belize! Thank you Giovanni and Giovanni!

8 of us spent 5 wonderful days here! Ages 30s to 60s. Even though this was the rainy season we did have lots of sun and some fabulous lightening storms with unbelievable rains!

Now for the lodge! 3 couple stayed in the casitas - what a delight! Each was slightly different, very private and nicely appointed! Special touches included fanciful towel decorations daily, lots of flowers daily, fresh fruit and great decks. Beds were very comfortable and showers were large. We had both air conditioning and 2 ceiling fans. The windows had screens.

We had breakfast, dinner and drinks in the main lodge. Very spacious and the most attentive and friendly staff I have ever seen.

The meals were the BEST! We started off the menu but then progresses to family style Belizian meals - they we so good! We had fish, chicken, beef, seafood, rice and beans, retried beans, plantains, fry jacks, veggies, fruits! All were prepared to perfection! As much as we all loved dinner; dessert were out of this world - BEG for the Lava Lava chocolate cake!!!!

We swam in the river. Went early morning bird watching with Abel, our private guide. Participated in several adventures - ATM caves, zip lining, black hole drop, zoo, and horse back riding. We did miss out on one tubing/caving trip as the water had gotten too high and dangerous. The horse back riding was the big surprise - rarely will you such an opportunity to ride in the jungle, gallop (actually quite a bit), and challenge some awesome trails and a creek!

The pool is currently under construction and promises to be a wonder in itself! Might have to return just to enjoy the pool - ok maybe the casitas and the food and drinks and the river and the adventures too!

Room Tip: CASITAs are very private and large.

We stayed at Sleeping Giant for 3 days at the end of August. 3 couples, no kids, all of us right around 50. It's a great vacation if you are prepared for it.

The resort is very small. There is a main building with a bar and a restaurant and 4 hotel rooms. There are 1/2 dozen or so detached rooms scattered around the property. All were very nicely done and kept very clean by the staff. There were about 25 people there, which I think is about the maximum.

2nd, it is not a big party place. The daily routine was breakfast at 7:00, leave for a tour around 8:00, return and happy hour at 5, dinner at 6:30. Bar closes at 9. Generally we were in bed between 10 and 11. Good for us...we were generally worn out from the day trips.

3rd, the facility is very remote. There are no other shops or restaurants for many, many miles. Best to do all-inclusive on the food. The food was very, very good. We were served family style one night, surf & turf another, and buffet on the last night. Breakfast was order from a menu...also very good.

The day trips were very good. Unfortunately we picked the rainy season so it rained every day. Cave tubing was closed due to high water. We did the "black hole drop" and all of us made it up and down safely, although we were absolutely drenched with sweat several times over. But, we really enjoyed it.

One more thing...they are building a swimming pool and it is close to finished. That will be a welcome addition, especially after a strenuous day trip!

All, things considered a great trip. I think 3 days was about the right amount of time. We would have gone stir crazy if it was longer.
