My husband and I stayed five nights at Amber Sunset for a 'rest and relaxation' vacation and couldn't have been more pleased with the friendly and gracious service we received from all of the staff. Giovanni was very prompt in answering our emails prior to the trip - an immense help in planning our vacation and relieving concerns. We arranged transportation through the resort - Marcel was an awesome driver...even gave us a tour of the city prior to our departure! Giovanni, Myra, and Marcel were readily available for any and every question or need. Absolutely loved Rambo their sweet gentle dog - looked forward to our "visits" with him. Our bed was very comfortable and the food was great.Thank you for making our first visit to Belize an amazing and unforgettable experience!

This resort is wonderful.
Mayra, Marcel, and Giovonni were warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They helped us plan our days with fun and adventure. A big thank you to Marcel and his friend for the cave tubing experience! They were funny and informative and we truly enjoyed every minute! Termites anyone?
Kelvin and Wilmer, the chefs at the resort indulged our senses with authentic Belizean cuisine every night. It was beyond delicious!
A giant THANK YOU to Gustavo, Mike, and Kelvin for protecting us from the night beasts of the jungle (bugs)! Ha! Ha! You guys made the evenings enjoyable and fun. I can't imagine a greater way to spend our evenings in the Cayo district. It was a pleasure to get to know you!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to the amazing staff at Amber Sunset Jungle Resort! You made our first trip to Belize unforgettable.

Giovanni and the staff were so helpful and gracious. Thank you for the experience. The grounds are excellent, and combine a jungle view with a very clean and luxury tree top room. We felt very welcome and the attention paid by staff was exceptional. Loved the beds, the service, the food and the views. Overall an excellent place to stay! Will see you again, and will recommend Amber Sunset to our friends.

We stayed at the Amber sunset for 5 nights as part of a 2 week trip around Belize and Mexico last month and loved every minute of our stay at this small family run resort. From the minute we arrived nothing was too much trouble for Giovanni (the owner) who quickly set about organising our chosen excursions to the ATM cave (which was incredible) a trip to Tikal in Guatemala and a cave tubing experience, all of which went without a hitch and we were met with knowledgable, friendly guides.
Through out our stay we were looked after fantastically well by Myra and Marcel who provided flawless and friendly service at both the restaurant and the small pool bar where we enjoyed some great margaritas in the afternoon and sampled the local rum by night!
As this is a small resort one of the added benefits was that we quickly got to know the other guests and found it generally a very sociable and relaxed atmosphere.
We were very sad to leave Amber Sunset, it was truly one of the best parts of our trip and i would recommend it to anyone looking for a good mix of authentic Belizean charm and an opportunity to explore some fantastic sights in this great country.

Room Tip: There are 2 family tree houses with 3 floors which would work well for groups

I stayed here for my honeymoon in April, and we had a wonderful time. This property is the perfect combination of luxury and rustic outdoorsiness. Before we even made a reservation at Amber Sunset, we pestered Giovanni with many questions, and he always responded patiently within 24 hours. His dedication and communication made it easy to select his resort for our honeymoon. We stayed in the Garifuna treehouse, which was airy and spacious. When Giovanni found out it was our honeymoon, he decorated our room with flower petals, candles, etc. In fact, all the staff -- Giovanni, Myra, Marcel and Juliette (and Rambo the dog) -- were warm and friendly. Their attention to detail really makes every aspect of this property stand out. Because the property is so small, we got to know the other guests, and the overall vibe felt very community-like, which we loved. It almost felt like a family vacation, we were so welcomed. The treehouse was luxurious (even though there were screens instead of windows), with Rusk bath products and handmade soaps. I woke up after the first night there and declared it was the best sleep I'd ever had. The bed is suspended by ropes from the ceiling beams, and was as comfortable as any luxury hotel bed. My favourite part was the outdoor stone tub (I believe every treehouse has one) -- it was wonderful to relax in the water in the privacy of our treehouse without the chlorine and direct sun exposure of the pool. The rest of the property is equally lovely, from the bar and pool area (I think the official photos of the area do not do it justice) and the restaurant. At the foot of the road to the resort is a little path that leads to a wonderful swimming creek. One thing to note is that the resort is situated between Belmopan and San Ignacio, and car transportation is required to go anywhere. We were able to get around without a rental car (Giovanni even gave us a lift into San Ignacio one day!), but be prepared to arrange transportation for activities in advance. The restaurant food is delicious, but you may want to have some snacks of your own in case you get hungry later on -- do not expect 24/7 room service. There are many small restaurants along Western Highway that are worth stopping at to have a taste of local food, but know that most places close up pretty early, so if you like to dine late, you should get food earlier in preparation. All in all, we had a most excellent stay, and would stay here again without reservation.

Room Tip: Garifuna treehouse is airy and spacious. Lots of privacy, and the bed is suspended from the ceiling...

We had a wonderful experience during our stay. They were very accommodating and went out of their way to see that our young kids had a good time. The tree houses were very comfortable with beautiful views and amazing handmade furniture. It was a great experience to get away from the touristy areas and see the "REST" of Belize.
