We had a fabulous week with our 17 year old son, all arranged by Christine and Jason of Orchid Garden Eco-hotel. It included so much for such a low price: being met at the airport and driven to many adventures- cave tubing, zip line rides, the incredible ATM Mayan Cave and snorkeling and the end of a great vacation at San Pedro. Not to repeat other reviews, but the food and service were amazing, Christine was a charming host- careful to make sure every detail was attended to so we could just be active and enjoy the history, nature, and beauty of this country. I would highly recommend this to families with teens- for access to activities that are fun and educational. The Eco hotel guides that drove us to places would talk about the history, current politics, family life, school, nature etc... of the country.

When we decided to make Belize as our winter break trip destination, I checked into many options and decided to stay at Orchid Garden Eco village as our base. Our family of three stayed here on a 7 night 8 day package with a tour to Tikal. The whole experience staying at Orchid Garden was wonderful. Started from the very beginning, the services were impeccable. Jason always answered my questions promptly. He ever helped me found a reasonable airfare and traveling time to make this trip possible for us. When we arrived at Belize, Alfredo was there to pick us up, we spend many hours traveling with him. He would stoped at places or take a detour just to show us somethings interesting. He shared his knowledge about Belize, plants and birds with us that made every ride with him informative. Another guide, Alvero, is equally professional and pleasant to be with. He would do anything to make your time with him enjoyable. The meals were always home-made with fresh ingredients and very delicious. Jason inquired what we like to eat and Christine took that into consideration when she planned for the meals. The ground of the hotel is charming and the room itself is clean and comfortable. The most remarkable aspects of this place is the personal attention, genuineness, friendliness, and hospitality of Christine and her staff provide. For example, we have our teen age son with us, and Christine gave us a suite without extra charge so we can have more room. They arranged great activities and send you with extra towels, water bottles etc, to ensure you have what you needed to enjoy the activities. In every way during our stay with them, we have experienced this level of services and their willingness to go to the extra mile to make sure their guests got the most out of the vacation.
This is my most stress free vacation because Christine took care of every travel arrangement seamlessly . We enjoyed our trip so much not only because Belize is a wonderful place to visit but also the people we met at Orchid Garden. Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable.

As many reviewers have said, Orchid Garden is on a beautiful section of land and serves wonderful meals. However we'd like to single out the amazing tours and vendors they work with. Every guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area of Belize that they were showing us.
Alfredo, the in-house guide, is such a wonderful man. When he showed us around the Belize Zoo, he really knew a lot about the animals and plants and their history at the zoo. When we'd walk up to the fences around exhibits, sometimes the animals would come up to him, giving us a lot closer look than we'd ever get at a zoo anywhere else. He is also very knowledgeable about Belizean/Mayan history.
All of the other guides were wonderful as well, we even had an Archeology student guiding us around the ATM cave and a member of one of the families of workers who had helped excavate the site initially, taking us around Lamanai.
The hotel itself is sort of a charming blend of a nice summer camp and a jungle resort. We also liked that it was situated in any area where you could really see the countryside and the Belizean people.
If you want to spend your week sipping icy drinks by a pool and going to a spa this is probably not your place. However if you'd like adventure but would like the convenience of being guided/helped by people who really know the area, this a great option.
Thanks to everyone there for a great time.

This place is awesome. The owner Christine is a wonderful person. She made us home cooked meals for a week and her cooking is delicious! Not to mention dinners are 4 to 5 course meals. They treated us like celebrities! Fresh food, fresh juices, fresh tea, fresh dessert, all made from their own garden. We cant thank her enough for her warm welcome, generosity, and hospitality. The dining ladies treated us very well with so much personal attention and care. The rooms are big, extremely clean and comfortable. There are refridgerators in the rooms. They even offer laundry services for a nominal fee. The drivers Alvero and Alfredo are such nice polite professional people. They really take care of you as if you are family. We forgot our water shoes, and Alvero saved us by letting us borrow his own shoes for the entire week!!!! Alfredo was equally nice and is a true pro with so much knowledge and fun facts, he makes any activity way more interesting and fun! The service is simply impeccable. Everyone is ridiculously nice and friendly. They set up our entire two week vacation including mainland Belize, Guatemala, and San Pedro complete with all tours, activities, meals, and they set up all the airport transfers, rides to the activities, towels, extra waters, water taxi, etc. Everything went smoothly and perfectly for the entire two weeks. There are lots of activities to do and they made sure we got the most out of our vacation by rearranging our trips based on the weather, etc, so we did not miss any tour/activity. The whole package was very reasonably priced. Best vacation ever! Will definitely go back and stay at Christine's establishment every time! We would recommend anyone interested in visiting Belize to strongly consider EcoVillage for their entire vacation package. You cannot go wrong!!!!

We were very pleased with the personal attention, genuineness, friendliness, and hospitality of Christine and her staff. The Belizean meals were excellent, as was the service. The grounds are beautiful, and as others have said, you feel as though you're in the jungle, even though the resort is located right off of the Western Highway. Accommodations were clean and adequate, but very basic and sparse. The guide, Alfredo, who met us at the airport was excellent...very knowledgable, kind, helpful, and spoke excellent English. We saw iguana in the sanctuary on-site, and enjoyed the tour of the grounds. I personally wouldn't choose to make this my home base in Belize, because there is so much to see in the other areas of the country, and all of the eco-lodges we stayed at had similar tours (as mentioned by other guests) available. I do believe the pricing was better at Orchid Garden, however. Although there is what is called a "natural" swimming hole on the grounds, it was not set-up for swimming/sunbathing, and I would personally be reluctant to use it. If the furniture and buildings were upgraded, and there was a useable pool available I'd give it a 5, based on service & hospitality alone, but otherwise not.

Room Tip: We had a room with a king bed. It was a ways away from the lodge area, but the staff were very graci...

When we decided in the spring of 2012 to make Belize as our year-end holiday destination, we looked at many options and our final choice was Orchid Garden Eco Village, for many reasons: good family-friendly atmosphere, reasonable price for the tour packages, a variety of tour destinations and activities, all backed up buy excellent rating in Trip Advisor. Our stay at this B&B hotel simply exceeded our expectations!

We stayed there on a 8 night 9 day package with tours to Tikal and Ambergris Caye island and the experience more than met our expectations. Jason was very prompt in answering all our questions, and upon our arrival at Belize airport, our new friend Alfredo greeted us and took us to the hotel, where we had a delicious lunch. The hotel is close to the highway to downtown Belize City, but the hotel compound was like a mini jungle with many varieties of flora and fauna, and hence refreshingly quaint and peaceful. Our rooms were spacious (we had connecting rooms with four beds!), clean, and comfortable. The food was delicious, healthy, and excellent with a lot of varieties - two of us were vegetarians and the hotel catered very well to their needs too. During our stay there, we made trips to Tikal, Lamanai, ATM (Crystal maiden cave), San Pedro, zip-lining and cave tubing, with excellent tour guides, which were all arranged by the hotel (and included in the package price). We had great experience at all these tours, especially at Tikal and at the ATM (a must see in Belize).

Our hosts Christine and Jason are a nice and friendly couple, with Christine looking after the needs of every guest to the minutest detail. We had a chance to see Jason's museum with his collections containing many stones and wooden carvings.

Alfredo is an amazing person and an excellent tour guide (he accompanied us on many tours and knows so much about the culture, history, wildlife, and civilization), a very good friend (we freely talked about lives and the kids were always tormenting him with questions which he always patiently answered), and a good role model. The other staff at the hotel (Pedro, Alvaro, and the serving staff) were also very nice, friendly, and courteous.

If you are looking forward to staying at a resort providing sandy beaches and other high-end luxuries, this is definitely not your place. But if you want a worry-free vacation with many outdoor activities, all taken care of for you - the transportation, tour guides, and lunch are all pre-arranged, in a cosy and friendly setting (we got to meet all the guests during our stays and made friends with many of them), this place should be your number one choice in Belize.

Thank you Christine, Jason, Alfredo and the rest of the staff for making this a very memorable trip for us. Thanks for opening your hearts and home and making it a "home away from home" experience for us.
