Book this tour with Carnival, not worth the $50. Very long, choppy ride from ship to beach. The beach turned out to be a man made beach, water full of stones. Not worth the hassle.

While taking the tender from the Carnival Legend to Belize City, my husband mentioned we wanted to go to Bannister Island. A crew member hooked us up with a family of 15 from Canada with the same plan. He said we could better negoiate price with more people and suggested to find "Harold" on the pier. We got a boat to Bannister Island, snorkel gear, 1 hr of snorkeling on a 185' barrier reef and two hours of beach time which included the lounge chairs and floats for $60/couple. Carnivals price was $60pp!! We had 3 crew members who were really nice, funny and informative about Belize. The captain spotted a dolphin and immediately stopped for photo ops and a close up view since it swam 6' from us! Once at the reef, they set up the safety rules for snorkeling and off we went. Plenty of sea life to be seen, it was beautiful! Back on board, we headed to Bannister Island. There was food and a bar, $5 drinks weren't great but the water was warm and the floats were fun. They brought us back to the pier next to the tender where you could do some shopping. It was a great day!

We spent a half day on Bannister Island and enjoyed it. I booked it through RCI mainly because with two small kids we did not want to tender and we got picked up and returned directly to the ship. I'm not sure if you can book this directly but if so you would have to tender which is about 15-20 min ride in (plus the lineup on the ship) and then you would do the same ride back and pass your ship for another 15 min ride since BI is past the anchor area. Plus reverse that back out to return. Lots of transportation. Noisy tenders and if you or your kids get seasick it's not fun (ours did).

The island is very nice and well equipped to handle probably about 150 to 200 people. We had two groups in and each boat held about 60 people and there was still room around. We were the only large ship docked that day.

The tour was 4hours including travel time so you had 3hours and a bit there which did seem too short.

We left the ship around 915 ship time which was 715 local time so it was a bit early and returned at 1pm ship time. Would have been nice to stay for the whole day but they were cycling in the afternoon groups.

It basically is a small private island geared for cruise ships and I believe only open when ships are in port. The washrooms were pleasantly modern and and not as bad as previous posts. Lots of beach chairs be sure to get off the boat and walk fast to get something in the shade if that is what you want since there are limited shade locations. The beach is all crushed shells. You really need beach shoes here. Zero shells to collect. Roped off swimming area. Bar and restaurant. Floating beach mats. Kayaks you can take out. Volleyball area. Not much else, but for a beach break that was good enough.

If you can book directly through the ship and get picked up and returned to the ship it's pretty smooth and pain free and definitely worth a premium.

We visited Bannister Island as an excursion while on a cruise. It was very nice, the staff was friendly and the food was good. The tender from our ship was only about 15 minutes long to the island. There is lots to do on the island for kids and adults. I would go there again.

We arragnged to go to Bannister Island as a shore excursion thru NCL. It included a beach chair and nothing else. We weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised when we got there and found the place almost empty. There were plenty of chairs, and a roped off swimming area. There is also a bar, gift shop, and a place to order food. The food was very good, and the drinks were also very good. You did have to go to the bar to order drinks, but that is not a big deal. Overall a very nice place. There is also a place to change clothes and also restrooms.
