In a shady part of town if you go for dinner, but the beef soup was great and the service fast and friendly. Have to come back for the gibnut though.

We decided to eat here since it was close to our hotel and recommended by the receptionist. The neighborhood was fairly safe and we had no problems walking from our hotel to the restaurant. However, I wouldn't walk around this area after dark. Upon arriving at the restaurant we noticed a poster on the wall advertising that Samantha Brown from the travel channel had eaten there. I love Samantha Brown and was excited about eating at a restaurant that she had been to! My husband and I both ordered fruit juice. He had tamarind and I had watermelon juice. Both were really good and we recommend ordering juice when eating here. We both had chicken, rice and beans. Mine was a curry chicken (not spicy) and my husband had stew chicken. Both meals were good and provided us with more food than what we could eat. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert which was tasty. The service was okay, but could have been better. We had a good dinner and recommend this restaurant if in this part of Belize City.

In Belize City, many local restaurants do not open on Sundays, and there were no US fast-food joints at the time of writing. Nerries is one of the few places we found that not only opens on a Sunday, but also stays open quite late, maybe 10pm. There is a small menu of local-style food, good portions, beer on sale.

All the staff we met there on our two visits were kindly and welcoming, a lovely experience all round.
