This shore excursion is booked "adventure," but that's overstatement. If you want a lovely relaxing day, this is the trip for you. The guide during the 45 minute trip each way was very informative and interacted well with the group. The biking was perfect for us 60-something casual bikers--through the jungle and some mud. We saw two iguanas, a termites' nest (we were offered termites to taste; no thank you), some coconut-tasting nuts, mahogany, and Tarzan vines. The pools were lovely and relaxing, with a slide for the children. The medicinal trail was interesting, but some of the signs were missing; upkeep was lacking. Lunch: bbq chicken, beans and rice, potato salad, sweet plantains. We didn't do the butterfly house because there was a small charge and it didn't look nearly as good as others we'd toured. OK, but not spectacular, day.

We visited this park on a cruise excursion. The ride was about 45 minutes, but the guide was very informative about the city as we drove to the park. The park was very beautiful and had a wonderful pool area. The food we received for lunch was wonderful - rice & beans, chicken, fried plantains. We rode horses and the guides were very helpful and picked out horses to meet everyone's abilities. The ride was slow and meandering. The bathroom facilities were adequate. My camera was stolen while I was there, so hang onto your items. I don't think it was anyone there, but rather another cruise member. (so sad). A great place to visit!

When a family of six people goes to Bacab Eco Park on an NCL Shore Excursion and comments on the way, and there, and on the way back they'd rather do something else, one can infer the presale exaggerates the potentials there. The butterfly house had mostly one variety of butterfly in a country of many beauties. An elementary school teacher usually teaches much the same stuff. The pool is quite nice, but the ship had pools too for all ages. The entrance is an interesting walk through foliage over a "wharf" of the same plant's trunks, but the restrooms were not clean, the insects annoying (ants attacking food on a table in less than 10 minutes), and the drive too long and uninteresting. Maybe in a few years, the place can live up to its protocols, but it isn't yet.

Bus to/from park is 45 mins through impoverished communities, and vintage 1950's. road into park is dirt... Pool is good, but could be cleaner. Butterfly house is 10 x 30 netted outhouse. Food is chicken, beans & rice, and fried plantains... this would be a wonderful attraction with further investment, additional botanical flowers... Overpriced for actual product offered. like buying everything used...people associated with park are excellent, and guide was educational. Facilities and fixtures need improvement. Pool is good.

I didn't understand the set up of this whole place until looking at it in retrospect. It's a great concept and while it's called an Eco Park and that's what it's striving to be, in general, I just got the feel that it was a pretty cool place. Our excursion from the Carnival Dream took us by bus through the city with a guide describing Belize . . . interesting, not scintillating, but informative. When we got there, I felt like I was at some farm type thing in the middle of nowhere. We were given a tour of the facilities we'd be using. Since we were doing the ride . . . apparently others come for other activities, we were shown where to stow gear, the bathrooms, the dining and bar area as well as a beautiful sparkling pool. Then our horses were assigned. We were led one after the other through forest area. We saw birds and more exciting . . . howler monkeys high in the trees. It was great for a novice rider. Lunch was served by the pool and was quite good. Wish we would have had more time for the pool because it was beautiful. They are trying to develop this land as an eco touring spot. This is not a hotel . . . it is a daytrip type of place. The facility is nice and it will be interesting to see how they continue to develop it.
