Our experience was as positive and accurate as the other reviews. Try to be on the first tender boat, we had plenty of time and then some, I just felt bad the father and son that went with us had to wait as we had to wait for a 2nd or 3rd tender boat.
David was waiting for us, the van had seat belts and air conditioning. David educated us all along the drive, hike, and tubing in a fun and energetic way, he lives his job and it shows.
The caves are pretty cool, use your imagination and you too will see incredible shapes.
The cruise ships appear to have cut their prices to push local cave tubing companies out of business, which is horrible as we personally saw the cruise tubers having an experience like cattle getting inches along in crappy tubes with strangers ankles under their armpits! Our tubes were nice and even had pillows, when your head is up looking at cave formations the pillows keeps your head comfortable. We had literally twice the tubing experience and went a lot farther than the cruise tubers. Think of the logistics of having to move hundreds of people off and on shuttles and getting gear, makes sense their trip in the water was half the length of our intimate groups.
After the cave tubing we got to tube the river in the sunshine and even swim!
Afterwards we ate at the local buffet that was on site. The cruise ship food was yummy, but honestly this buffet was my favorite. Soooo fresh and tasty.
We had a need to stop by a pharmacy- no problem. David enjoys helping people and makes you laugh.
We took bug spray and forgot to use it and we got chomped, don't forget to spray. The bugs were really only at the mouth of the caves, you don't really see them but they see you. :)
The trip was un-Belizable! Hee hee.
