The reviews are spot on. Louise is charming and so are the cabanas. Louise had lots of great advice on the island, and provided us with free bikes to zip about town on. The location was a quick stumble from the best bar on the island (the I & I) and the room was spotless and comfortable. The windows allowed for a nice breeze or if it got too hot, the a/c worked quite well! We loved laying around in the hammocks looking at the beautiful trees and flowers.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful stay at Maxhapan Cabanas. The cabanas are located close to the center of town, but far enough to get a good nights sleep. We flew into the island via tropic air and after a $5 golf cart taxi we were at the cabanas within 5 minutes. The owner is incredibly helpful and gave us great suggestions for excursions and restaurants and even offered to order us a case of beer and bag of ice to be delivered to the room. The food market is about two blocks away and you can easily grab a few items to keep in the room. The room is equipped with a mini fridge, coffee pot and microwave. Each cabana has chairs outside on the deck and a hammock. The property is equpped with plenty of tables, hammocks, and chairs in order to just sit back and relax. For those that can't live without a TV, the room does have a small 13inch TV... we turned it on once just to see what channels came in and we surprised by how many got picked up. Louise supplies each cabana with 2 bottles of water each day, which is awesome benefit! Coupled with the free usage of bikes and snorkel equipment, the cabanas are a great value!

Their are plenty of excellend tour operators on the island, we loved hicaco tours. As for food, I reccomend Femi's for breakfast and Rosie's or Habanero's for dinner. Everything is within a quick walk or pedal from Maxhapan cabanas. It was a perfect getaway for a peaceful retreat.

Quiet, clean, and had everything we needed. The free bikes were a huge plus, and allowed us to explore the south side of the island's nature reserve all the way to the bar at the north side of the island. It looks like Louise, the owner, had free snorkel equipment too. Louise was a wonderful host, and was happy to answer any questions we had.

With only three guest rooms, we weren't on top of people and had plenty of privacy. The rooms were well-maintained and we loved the hammock on the front porch, as well as the nice breeze that came through our second-floor room in the evenings. Enjoyed the bottles of fresh water left in our room on a daily basis, and the refrigerator was put to good use. Our shower was consistently warm, even during "peak" showering times when other guests were likely starting the day.

The rooms were just a three-minute walk from the beach, and close to the supermarket (Chinatown), restaurants (Marin's, Tropical Paradise) and snorkel/dive/mayan ruins tour operators.

The owner Louis was extremely helpful in helping us with guides, must do's and places to eat and not eat as well. It is a short 5 minute stroll to town in a quiet location. The grounds with trees and clean sands have great tables, chairs and hammocks to relax, read or take a nap. This is an excellent place to stay at Caye Caulker, I highly recommend it!!!

Maxhapan is a wonderful guesthouse to stay in for a couple of days, the perfect place to read your book in a hammock, drink some beer and chill out. Me and my husband spent 5 days there, went snorkeling (Mario's snorkeling trip and it was the best snorkeling trip we have ever been on - managed to swim with nursing sharks and manatees). Louise was extremely helpful and friendly, very nice lady indeed. Definitely go there if you just want to chill out or laze on the beach!

My husband and I stayed in Room #5 Feb 21- 28. We heard about this location through TripAdvisor and from emailing her prior to the trip to arrival, Louise Aguilar is fantastic. She not only made sure our room was spotless and we had the bikes and water, but she also took personal interest in what we were doing, where we were going, and suggested areas that would improve our stay. Very informative, but not at all pushy.

This location is not on the beach, but it is central to everything. Pretty quiet and grounds are very, very clean. The beds are a little hard, but from what I've heard, that is the case all over the island. Rooms come with a small fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker (all of which come in handy.)

The bathroom was exceptionally nice. I looked at two beach-front, high end establishments while in Caye Caulker, and they were nothing in comparison to what we had at Maxhapan.

We are planning on going back next February again. Could not have asked for a better stay or hostess.

We got the name of Maxhapan Cabanas from Trip advisor. All the reviews were right on! Louise is a sweetheart and is always available with a warm smile and lots of good suggestions. The cabanas were immaculate and although we told Louise that she didn't need to clean ours every day, she insisted. Each day we received 2 large bottles of water which were great to have. We also had use of her bicycles which we used all day, everyday. Louise also had snorkeling equipment available for our use. I cannot say enough about this place. Its away from the main hustle and bustle, but the island is so small that nothing is far away. The grounds were immaculate as well as the rooms. We have already booked our trip back next year and will certainly stay at Maxhapan. The price is very reasonable for the great service and extra immenities. I highly recommend this place!
