Ras Creek Ecotours - Private Day Tours
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Ras Creek is a Belizean icon. He is responsible for the local reef, sting ray sanctuaries and has even been working on a sea horse reserve. He is a true character and going with his flow is part of the game. You can track him down at the split (not the water taxi) and make a loose plan to go out. Bring all your goodies and drinks and then wait for the window of Creek opportunity. He will go out eventually and it's always worth it! Just be patient. You're on vacation! He has a magical connection with the animals and with his wild rasta boat. It's a wonderful and ever changing ride! Holding sting rays, good music, fresh food, swimming, snorkeling, hilarious banter, random locals, and Creek entertainment.

My hubby, myself and a lone, wonderful traveler friend named Shannon went on a day trip with Ras and it was, bar none, the best day of our week long vacation. If you enjoy natural things - touching rays, feeding birds by hand, snorkeling and diving for conch, and simply learning about the island of Caye Caulker - you don't want to miss a day with him. A few Belkin beers go pretty far. Meet him by the split (Lazy Lizard Bar), bring some snacks and sunscreen, and go, go go.

The pic is of us cradling a ray.

I last sailed with Ras back in 2008 but am heading down again for Xmas 2012 with my mom. Raz is mellow and a great Creole chef. Last time I helped dive for the conchs for lunch but will sit it out this time. Ras does an awesome rice pilaf with conch and the catch of the day. He and Maurice of Wish Willy's are my 2 favorite chefs on CC.

Ras Creek is crazy in the best of ways! Get a couple buckets of beer, and take it easy! GOOD TIMES...I promise. If his spunky, hap-hazard, rasta boat isn't enough to put you in the mood right away, just wait till you get to shark/sting ray alley. Awesome!

If you get the possibility to make a snorkelling trip with Ras Creek - it's a MUST to do it!!!! Don't miss the experience to go for some hours with Ras to see nurse sharks, sting rays etc...Go and find him at "the split".
