Description: If you're the type who enjoy's flavorful food and family style service this is the place to eat. It is located across the only bakery in Caye Caulker and not too far from the only bank on the island, Meldy's is the place for amazing meals at an affordable price. It's a small place, but even if it's a little crowded or if you're in a rush, ask about take out, the extensive menu includes seasonal lobster, fish, burgers and everything in between. Also, be sure to ask about Meldy's bacon wrapped baked chicken, it is nothing short of spectacular. So look out for the little pink and green building on middle street, tell them you came to see Meldy. If she's in, she might be able to fix you a customized menu based dish to suit your taste, just ask, this is your mom's kitchen away from home.

“Excellent food in a very casual place”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

We went to dinner at Meldy's with some friends our first night on Caye Caulker, and we loved it. The food is excellent (the hand-made tortillas alone are worth the visit) and all freshly prepared. The service was a little slow, but very friendly and well worth the wait. It's a very low-key local joint that is worth looking for during your stay on the island.

“Go Slow....”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

This was our first night on Caye Caulker. Our kids wanted us to bring back burritos. We found this place, ordered some drinks, and sat....and sat. I was almost ready to give up, but figured we might have to start the process all over elsewhere. Two girls near us said the lobster was great. We had ordered some quesadillas and burritos. The guy did come by and apologize at how long it was taking. He said they had just had an order for 9 burritos just before us. Our kids liked the beef burritos which has sliced beef, but said they were kind of spicy. They were a good size. Moderately priced. The lower rating is from how LONG it took to get our food. But, as we learned, there really is not fast food on Caye Caulker.

“Tasty lunch - get the specials!”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

One of the best ceviches on the island - it's a hearty portion too! Definitely get one the specials, they're fresh, well seasoned, and delicious. We went twice and had fried snapper special (twice) and jerk chicken. When the meal was taking longer than usual to cook because they ran out of rice, they offered to serve us the meal with tortillas first and then brought out the rice later.

Don't forget to cool off with a sour sop drink - only $1USD!

“Lots of flavour and great prices”
Reviewed December 20, 2013 via mobile

We ate at meldy's a few times. We haven't been disappointed yet. Prices are more than reasonable, portions are generous, and each meal has been great. I've tried the French Toast with bacon and the huevos ranchers. Both were great, but I am not sure what kind of syrup came with the French Toast. It was good but different than I've had before. Tasted more like honey or something. My husband had the Spanish eggs twice and says it's the best breakfast he's had in Belize. We've also gone there twice for the shrimp ceviche which was a tasty afternoon snack. My husband also had the peanut butter and banana smoothie which was thick, cold, and yummy! Service is always friendly. For the price and the flavour make sure to check out meldy's at least once while on caye caulker!
