Steve is amazing. If you want a true, authenticate experience with a guide that loves his island, go with this tour.
He's the cheapest you'll find, and has all the same goodies as every other tour, but with the chilliest, most entertaining and kind guide you can find.
I am so glad Ragamuffin was full and we found Steve.

We met Steve from Blackhawk Sailing Tours on a bar swing at the Enjoy bar, where you can often find him early evenings. Such a friendly and warming person, he engaged us in conversation about life on Caye Caulker and brought us up to speed on the latest local political intrigue. He casually mentioned his business but didnt try to sell us like most of the other operators in town seem deterkined to do. He did mention that he would cut us a good deal if we wanted to go oit sometime. We saw him again the next night at the Village Council political debate and afterwards back outside at Enjoy. We agreed to meet him the next day where he said he would have three more passengers. That morning we met up at his place next to the Real Macaw after grabbing a prescription snorkel mask at Anwar Tours (BZ $20). They outfitted us with snorkel gear and the five of us passengers boarded the boat along with Steve and his deckhand Vic and his crazy 3D eyeball sunglasses. We set out for Shark Ray Alley first where we were greeted by schools of Horseye Jacks, Nurse Sharks, and myriad smaller schools. We spent a good amount of time swimming among the coral, rousting nurse sharks from their hiding spots and soaking up the sun. Bring plenty of sunscreen and a shirt to go in the water with. Next we left to find the turtles. We were fortunate to find one mellow specimen floating around, eyeing us cautiously as we checked him out. There were plenty of fish here too, as well as a massive bed of abandoned Conch shells.

Next, we got out and were greeted with a basic lunch of tuna sandwiches, juice and bananas, then set out for the A area at the channel. Steve accompanied us into the water here for a guided tour through the coral and helped us identify the MANY fish present here. We saw some huge Grouper, Black Snapper, Nurse Sharks and a HUGE Moray Eel that was hissing at us. Steve picked up a big nurse shark and showed him to us up close.

The return trip was very relaxing and came with delicious fresh Conch ceviche and Very strong rum punch by the gallon.

We highly recommend this trip. Steve and Vic are accommodating, warm, and welcoming and know how to make you feel at home!

Our main reason for travelling to Caye Caulker from Mexico was to go snorkelling and this excursion did not disappoint. We made three stops and got to see lots of sea life including turtles, nurse sharks, and rays. Lunch was included - as were lots of drinks on the way back! The boat was not overloaded with people which made it more comfortable and meant that, unlike other tours, we were not so crowded in the water that we were constantly getting kicked in the head by others. We went out on a relatively calm day and it was easy to keep up to the guide without becoming worn out.
These guys were hospitable, knowledgeable, and were able to answer every question the group asked. If you're looking for a fun, laid-back day where you don't feel rushed, this is the snorkelling trip for you!

We were walking along the main road in Caye Caulker, stopping in various huts and looking at the offerings for snorkeling when we came across "Steve's corner" where he hangs out when he is not out on his ship, the Blackhawk. He was fun to talk to and what he offered was a bit unusual & different than the rest of the places we had perused already. He does all-day trips of "sort-of sailing" (sail plus motor) out to the marine reserve and 2 other places. We signed up to go out the next day. The day was beautiful, the water was clear, and we all had a great time! Harry was our snorkeling guide; he would dive down, point out something particular, come up and tell us about it. He found amazing things! Steve fixed lunch while we were snorkeling and while we were sailing back, we had cerviche and the (now-famous) rum punch referred to in other posts. Very fun, very comfortable and perfect!

Took a full day snorkeling trip with the Black hawk sailing boat. Captain Steve and his crew, Chuckie, made it a funny experience with lots of stories and lots of Ceviche and rum-punch. Furthermore, looking at the over-crowded reggae muffin ship (competing tour company), we were more than happy to have embarked on the black hawk, enjoying the sun and the ocean with only 3 other tourists.

We fully recommend going with the Black Hawk for an original experience!
