“what a blast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2014

Mario was recommended to us by a local lady we had met. We checked him out, along with the other tour operators. It was very important for us to use a local business and not someone externally owned (100% Belizian!). We ended doing a full day snorkel tour with Mario Sr. He shared a lot of historical info about Caye Caulker and Belize as well as some of the local programs that are in place (replanting of mangroves). He was also extremely patient with me because I was quite afraid to snorkel. He took my hand and away I went! We went back Mario Sr. and he arranged a tour to Lamanai for us, and since that was most excellent, we went back yet again and visited the Baboon Sanctuary and Belize Zoo. We are going back, and when we do, we will definitely go see Mario again.

“Arrogant and not worth the money”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

Mario is offering a full day snorkling experience for $65. However it is only 4 hours and the places hou visit are to touristic and nothing special. The equipment is leaking and of bad quality. It's a rip off. If you want to snorkle anyway, hou are better of with a half day.

“Good experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

We booked two snorkeling tours through Mario and both were great. The night snorkeling trip was my first time and at first i was a little scared, but this was soon overcome. Juan was one of the guides on the trip and was very good at pointing out things. The second day we did a whole day snorkeling trip with Joe. He was great at showing us coral, fishes etc and took us to shark alley to see nurse sharks and sting rays. There was fruit, burgers and soft drinks provided too. It was wet and rainy that day and we almost cancelled but Mario assured us that it would be fine out at sea and that it was! Mario's prices were not the cheapest in Caye Caulker but that is for you to decide. My trips were both very positive, even though of course i would have liked to have paid less! :)

“great snorkel experience, with a great guy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

we stayed at the Magic Hotel and Mario´s shop is right across the street, walked in and after 10 min already had scheduled our private tour of snorkeling .
the next day we crossed the street (this is the first time that we arrived early to something !) we walked to the dock and in minutes we were in a beautiful and calm turquoise sea ... infested with sharks and rays !
was a unique experience with fish, sharks rays flitting around even between your legs , it was impressive to see how Juan manipulated sharks and rays as if they were kittens , touch these animals in their habitat is a unique experience.
Reefs are really impressive too you could see a lots of varieties of fish, snails and turtles in shallow waters.
the boat is comfortable and simple, but the warmth and knowledge of Don Mario and Juan from the area what make these tours special.
The tour includes water and fresh fruit , the boat move slowly and they can vary the route according to the needs of customers, is highly recommended for people of any age who like wildlife, swim in a beautiful sea and a good chat!
we hope come back soon!

“Our own personal snorkelling trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

There are advantages to travelling in the slow season! We only wanted to do a half day trip (particularly Shark Ray Alley)
Mario seemed to be one of the only tour operators running the half day trip when we were there, he was very friendly and obliging when booking the trip and although he was not on the tour with us we had a great time.
Shark Ray Alley is not to be missed and even though we had no food for them we were still able to see and experience them up close.
After seeing other boats arriving loaded down with snorkelers we were happy to have the place and our guide all to ourselves.
