“Chilled out”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

If you are after a quiet, clean and chilled out hostel you would want to stay here. We booked a private room and it was perfect. The accommodation is on the quiet side, they dont allow guests on the property, or loud noise after a certain hour, but this is to encourage guests to take advantage of what the island has to offer and the local business's. The kitchen facilities were well stocked and clean all the time, it actually felt nice to finally be in a normal kitchen and cook a decent meal here. Its super close to the dock and close to a very good cuban restaurant (which I religiously went to for coffee in the morning and the roast pig). Overall stay here, you wouldnt regret it and if you meet other travellers in Caye Caulker they usually wished they had stayed here too. If you see Susanne's dog Lady, give her a pet or two for me.

My wife and I stayed here our last night in Belize as we didnt want to go back to Belize City for our last night. Tinas Hostel is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen area is very small but it never seemed crowded. The shower rooms were clean as well, the toilette was pretty small but its a hostel so who cares. We stayed in a private room next to the kitchen on the 1st floor, it was quiet and I slept well, the room had a fan in it which was really nice and there is a nice area outside to sit and chat or use a laptop, etc. This place is also right next to the water taxi so its great to catch a ride back for your flight back home.

Dear Christopher1384,

It makes me happy to read that you got to enjoy our house before leaving Belize.

I know that name and ownership change of a business is always somewhat confusing.
We are now call YUMA'S HOUSE BELIZE. Ownership here at the hostel changed a little bit over two years ago and I re-named the house after my son. It used to be called Tina's hostel.

Thank you for your time to review our house,
Susanne

We stayed in this hostel 4 nights and we can highly recommend it.

- Location: Next to the sea and very close to the landing place of the ferry. As there is no real beach at Caye Caulker it was nice that there were a lot of hammocks, tables and chairs with sea view.

- Rooms: Small but clean, with lockers for valuables, WiFi, etc. We were even asked how often we would like our linens to be changed.

- Staff: Well organized, list of recommended restaurants, helpful and informed about ferry and bus times, etc.

All in all we were very satisfied and would come back should we spend some days at Caye Caulker again.

What a fantastic place to lose yourself! This beachside hostel (which became my home away from home) is a travelers paradise!

It is completely immaculate and comes with plenty of showers, toilets and a kitchen on each level! There are hammocks in the garden and out on the private jetty, and the wifi is great.

Bedding is changed every day and the prices are extremely reasonable - we paid $31 USD/night for a private double.

We originally booked 4 nights but ended up staying for a week because we fell in love with the place. Thanks Susanne!!

Beautiful place, great location & Free WiFi. The private room (1bed) is small but okay for the budget. Showers & common areas are very clean all the time. Closest place to travel on boat but not to best to watch a sunset...

Yuma's is definitely a good deal! I stayed in a 4-bed dorm because the privates were full. It turned out just fine! It was very reasonably priced, very clean, and had good amenities. There are 2 kitchens, lots of hammocks, and very nice staff. There are lockers with locks provided in the dorms - big enough for a laptop, camera, ipod/phone, passport etc. There were many friendly travelers of a variety of ages. It's right next to the water taxi dock, which was really convenient! It's great to have the quiet hours so that you can go out and party late if you want to, but you can also have a quiet place to sleep if you want.

(And yeah, it's true, there's only cold water... but really people... get over it. It's hot in Belize. A cold shower isn't going to hurt you. It's refreshing.)

Room Tip: Book early if you want a private! Well, book early in general because it seems to be full most of t...
