We rarely go back to the same place twice, but this is the exception to the rule. This is our second time, and it won't be our last. We came at the height of hurricane season, and it rained a lot, but the staff bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. The room was immaculate. Pool and ac are bonuses. My only advice is to not come in September, as many restaurants and stores are closed.

Another great stay at this hotel. Caye Caulker's best. The staff is so great. They are the best. We'll be back! This is already our second stay at this hotel. Stayed at another but there is no comparison.

We stayed here for 3 nights and booked into room 12 on the 2nd floor (King suite) based on other reviews. The room was extremely spacious with a king bed and sitting area with a couch and separate area for the bathroom. The veranda looked out onto the pool area and the water (west view) with a couch outside to watch the sunset. The room has a mini fridge to keep your drinks cool.
The hotel offers continental breakfast each morning (fruit, toast and yogurt) however we skipped it and went to Glenda's each morning for her AMAZING cinnamon rolls - get there early they sell out quick.
Overall, the location was great a couple of blocks off front street by the soccer field. The pool is small but nice to have an afternoon dip as there aren't a lot of places to go in the water unless you go to the split.

After spending a couple of nights on the wrong end of the island in a house full of insects (mosquitoes and no-see-um's) we moved to Iguana Reef. Everything about this place is wonderful. Rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and clean. The grounds are kept immaculate, and the pool is the nicest on the island. A free continental breakfast in the morning by the pool is a nice touch. Birders should keep an eye out for Cinnamon Hummingbird and Yucatan Vireo, both of which can be found in the vegetation behind the pool along the road!

This was our second trip to Caye Caulker and our second stay at Iguana Reef. Once again IRI met or exceeded our expectations. The hotel and property are by far the nicest on the Caye, but what really makes the resort is the fantastic staff. Otis, Lizbeth and the rest of the staff bent over backwards to make our stay a comfortable one. The resturants on the Island are fantastic and very affordable for a family of four. Our average bill was around $70 for dinner, but that was four people eating lobster, and dad enjoying several Belikins, not bad at all. And when it comes to dinning don't hesitate to ask Otis the IRI bartender what days he'll be BBQ'ing on the beach. He sets up a small stand a couple days a week and serves up some fantastice pork chops and chicken. The Rainbow resturant was our favorite dinner spot and has a really nice view of the reef. We took a day trip to San Pedro, and while it was a nice place to visit there was way too much traffic for me. Caye Caulker and Iguana Reef is the way to go if you want to have a peaceful vacation.
As far as snorlkeling trips go we went with Raggamuffin tours, We took the day trip on the Ragga Queen to Hol-Chan, a half a day trip to local reef and shark ray alley, as well as an all day fishing and snorkeling trip. Our boat Capt for the half day trip and all day fishing/snorkeling trip was Jahlee who also runs his own tours, coolrunningsbelize@yahoo.net, and for the Hol-Chan sailing trip we had Capt Ish and Capt Kevin. The entire team at Raggamuffin showed us a great time and I felt safe and could tell right away my 2 teen age daughters were well taken care of while in the water.
Overall Caye Caulker is a great place to go and is special by the people of the island who are generally very friendly. The IRI is due to undergo a change in owners soon, I hope they don't change a thing since I plan to come back again and will look to stay at the IRI again.

Room Tip: I've stayed poolside 5 years ago and adjacent to the soccer field this time. Both rooms are real...

We were led to this beautiful,13-room Caye Caulker inn by ex-pats we met on the mainland of Belize. Situated mid-island with a sunset dock view, it has very comfortable, well-appointed rooms and a pretty pool area. Continental breakfasts of fresh yogurt, fruit salad and granola were delicious. Staff was very helpful, as were the owners, Mario and Karen. We had a fine seafood dinner there after a full-day Raggamuffin sail and snorkel tour.

We arrived July 6th for our annual trip to Caye Caulker. 11 of us traveling to Paradise once again. The trip was superb, other than more rain than we were used to, but the Iguana Reef Inn never fails us. The staff is great, especially Alex, Ingrid and Lizbet. They make the arrival process so seamless and are very attentive. We stayed in the penthouse on the 3rd floor. It was a treat this year because of the spacious layout and full kitchen. We always stay at the IRI and wondered around this trip to see other options on the Caye. We found no other inn as nice as the IRI. for the price, service and quality of accommodations, it is the best value!

The island food remains great! We ate at our usual...Habaneros, Syd's (the best fried chicken in the world) and what was formerly Don Corleone's. Habaneros has a new menu and I found it to be better than before.

The new island gem is Sandros Piccolo Cocina. The lasagna was the best I have ever had!!! The dive shop adjacent to the Iguana Reef is great if you are looking for American Bar food. The staff there was superb!

The Inn seems to be changing management, but it was nice to see that the service and quality of Iguana Reef has not changed.

We look forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: We have stayed in all types. Ocean view, garden and the penthouse. They are all exceptional!
