“Worst meal of entire Belize trip”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

We stopped by Marin's because of a recommendation from our hotel owner, claiming that the food was good with great value. The prices were definitely very good, but this is a classic case of "you get what you pay for".

We ordered the chicken with rice and beans and a quesadilla. Everything on the chicken dish was bland, dry, and overcooked. The quesadilla was pretty much inedible because they just threw processed nacho cheese sauce on a tortilla, and it seemed like they just microwaved it because the tortilla did not taste cooked at all. I didn't think it was possible to mess up something as simple as a quesadilla, but they went beyond proving that. Very disappointed with the food, but we at least only paid BZ$15 for everything.

Service was also extremely slow, although we were warned that this would probably be the case. We did feel bad for the waitor though because he seemed to be doing double duty as the bartender as well and was the only one on staff.

Good food and company. It was the second restaurant we ate in on the 1st day on the island. Very good food at a reasonable price.

“Ordered lobster curry and got street crab”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

We ordered the lobster curry and soon realized it was not lobster at all. It was street crabs that crawl along the street at night and scurry into the bushes. The curry sauce was nothing special. Although the people are friendly, the food is awful! I hope I don't get sick!!

“Good Food - Island Style”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

Marin's is a little outside of the center of Caye Caulker, but a stone throw away from where we stayed at Maxapan. We passed it about 2 dozen times on our way to diving, on our way from diving, on our way to dinner and on our way home from dinner. So we just had to have dinner there one night. Especially after getting up at 5am, diving the Blue Hole and 2 more dives after that, we where beat. So Marin's to the rescue,....a 1 minute walk from our bed! It seemed a bit like a locals hang out which is always a good sign. And we met another couple that had been on the dive boat with us the same day, so we hung out and reminissed about the great dives we had earlier that day. Waiter was very personable and mixed us some "special" cocktails too. Food was good and on the budget side (for a change). I think this restaurant is an example how Caye Caulker was like before it was discovered by tourists.

“Good Food Great price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

The food here was very reasonble and quite tasty. Initially we were a bit put off by the waitor but he must have sensed this and explained that he was waitor, bartender and chef and took the time to give us an education on how to use hot sauce correctly
