The only place to swim is the split and there is no real beach as such. Plenty of places to eat but would never return

If you're tired of travelling and just would like to relax and do nothing then Caye Caulker is the right place for you. It's about 2km long and 800m wide so you can reach everything on foot or you rent a golf cart. You won't find tarmac and therefore no cars on the island. You have the choice between lots of restaurants and bars and people are very open, friendly and helpful. One negative point: The island does not have beaches (only a little bit at The Split) and there is lots of sea grass so it's also not the best place for swimming. But this doesn't matter as the rest of the island is just awesome.

We loved Caye Caulker after our time on Ambergris Caye. It is a much more laid-back and relaxing place. There is a good variety of bars and restaurants with reasonable prices and no shortage of adventures to be had from snorkeling to diving to birding to just sitting on the beach and watching the sunset we can't wait to go back!

no cars, very quaint, beautiful water everywhere, food is ok, locals very very friendly! favorite bar is the reggae bar all the way to the end of the island opposite the split. take a right and three doors down is a white three story house, bar is on 2nd and rooftop level, swinging chairs, great music (only place on island with good music!!) and good cocktails. If your nice to the bartender they are nice back, come with your manners!

My family stayed on Caye Caulker for 2 weeks in July . It was a great base of action for excursions. Reasonably priced, eclectic, and fun. Our kids rode bikes and walked all over the island and by the time we left knew many of the friendly locals. Going snorkeling with manatees and snorkeling Holchan were amazing. Look for Captain Caveman. He's a great guide and will take you snorkeling.
