We loved Caye Caulker after our time on Ambergris Caye. It is a much more laid-back and relaxing place. There is a good variety of bars and restaurants with reasonable prices and no shortage of adventures to be had from snorkeling to diving to birding to just sitting on the beach and watching the sunset we can't wait to go back!

no cars, very quaint, beautiful water everywhere, food is ok, locals very very friendly! favorite bar is the reggae bar all the way to the end of the island opposite the split. take a right and three doors down is a white three story house, bar is on 2nd and rooftop level, swinging chairs, great music (only place on island with good music!!) and good cocktails. If your nice to the bartender they are nice back, come with your manners!

My family stayed on Caye Caulker for 2 weeks in July . It was a great base of action for excursions. Reasonably priced, eclectic, and fun. Our kids rode bikes and walked all over the island and by the time we left knew many of the friendly locals. Going snorkeling with manatees and snorkeling Holchan were amazing. Look for Captain Caveman. He's a great guide and will take you snorkeling.

We were on Caye Caulker for just one afternoon, but Mario took us snorkeling and it was the best we've ever seen -- second largest reef in the world (largest live reef). We were snorkeling with nurse sharks and stingrays; saw a moray eel and lots of colorful fish. The boat wasn't very big, but Mario was a great guide (snorkeled with us and told us what we were looking at). He provided watermelon and pineapple on the trip as well. Well worth the trip!

A great vibe to this island, very chilled, much cheaper than San pedro, people super friendly and a great place to swim down at the split. Do san pedro as a day trip and stay on car caulker.
