This reminded me a bit of Isla Mujeres with the golf carts and no cars. People are nice. Food is fair. But I never had great food in Belize so I did not expect it. Many reviews say there is difficulty using credit cards. Hardly so. Almost every establishment other than small local ones take them. There is usually a 5% fee. There are no real beaches here but getting into the water is easy. Spent many hours in the water. A good place to get away for a few days. There is a lot of poverty just a block or so off the main street. And a lot of garbage. One gets used to it.

If you are looking for a barefoot, laid back escape, to chill out in a town with sand streets then look no further. Take your time and enjoy the sunsets, go for a swim and a drink or two....or three....at the spilt. Go for a walk or a bike ride. Have a delicious dinner and forget about the hustle bustle of golf carts in San Pedro.

I have no idea why but this island is like taking a holistic version of Valium. The only really great thing are the fish in the crystal clear water but the people are tourist-friendly and the place just drains all your stress away. I wish I could have stayed a month and not just three days.

Caye Caulker is simply amazing! It's very easy to get to from San Pedro or Belize City by water taxi/ferry. Once on the island, you can find one of the best hangouts for young people in the area at the Split, a little beach area where the island splits. At the Split is a very laid-back and cool bar called No Wake Zone. Lots of attractive, young tourists stop by for swimming in the little channel and enjoying the cheap beer and strong rum punch. The remainder of the island is very quiet and laid back. Caye Caulker was a welcome change from San Pedro.

Peaceful with just the right amount of stuff to do. We loved the island and it is a true tropical island.
