Eat at the table in the water and drink the local "B" beer. Then write your name on the bar walls! Meet all the patrons from around the world and snorkel next to the restaurant. Take a swim across to the mangrove island. I just returned in October and want to return yesterday. LAZY LIZARD is the meeting & greeting place.....have fun, you all. I took a lot of pictures there but do not know how to download yet....

“Best Sunset bar in Town”
Reviewed August 16, 2010

What a site, surrounded on three sides by water, right next to a channel torn in the island by a tornado. The water's hot so get your drinks, get in the water and enjoy.

“You can't argue with the location but ruined by moody barman”
Reviewed April 29, 2010

I was really looking forward to going to the Lazy Lizard, the location is fantastic, right on the split and i love the fact you can sit in the sea on the pub benches whilst sipping a beer.
However! got there, ordered a beer, as polite as usual, the guy took one look at me, didn't say a thing, got a beer, shoved it in my hand and just pushed his hand out for the money....fair enough, may be having a bad day, i'll leave it.
Few days later, went back whilst snorkelling. Again ordered a drink, the guy then mimicked my accent, said fu***ng english and walked off!
I was never rude, always said please and thankyou, the guy has just got a massive chip on his shoulder.
Not sure what his problem was or his role, if he's just a barman they need to get rid of him!

“The place to be in Caye Caulker!”
Reviewed April 25, 2010

If it wasn't for the Lazy Lizard, I'm not sure I would have been to Caye Caulker 3 times. It's right on the Split for excellent snorkeling and swimming. You pretty much hang out in the sun, have some drinks, meet locals and other tourists, and the best spot on the island for the sunset. They serve excellent fish dishes and sandwiches, the grilled grouper with coleslaw and rice/beans was awesome, but its definitely more of a bar than a restaurant. Alfredo and Carmen were excellent bartenders and you can start a tab and pay at the end of the day instead of whipping money out every time you need a Belikin as those babies go down fast! We forgot to pay a small tab one day but Carmen didn't get mad when she pointed it out the next day. We went there EVERY day!

“Loved it! Great place to hang out!”
Reviewed April 23, 2010

We had heard from friends that THE SPLIT was the place to hang out on Caye Caulker, so our first day in San Pedro we took the water taxi out there (20 min boat ride). We had a great time and even came back on our very last day to hang out and chill.

It's a great place to lay out in the sun, snorkle, drink some yummy rum punch and meet new people. We also rented a kayak for $5 from a guy that has a boat parked out front of The Lazy Lizard and we kayaked thru the mangroves. Saw some cool fish, starfish, spotted ray and the biggest hermit crab I have ever seen. Good music, great fun and good times!
