If you were to pick one activity in Caye Caulker (or maybe all of Belize), it would be this 3-day sail to Placencia on Raggamuffin's newly restored 38 ft catamaran. Captains Kevin and Ish, along with Charles the chef, deftly and enthusiastically took care of the international mixture of 18 passengers, providing outstanding food and drink, music, instruction, and fun. Island tent camping was a new experience for us -- be sure to bring a flashlight! Snorkeling is excellent, and the crew had very good eyes for picking out the more unusual and rare animals. The only thing missing from the stay the first night on Goff Caye was Captain Jack Sparrow; on Tobacco Caye the second night there is a staffed research station for the more technically inclined. Our 3-day sail in late August appeared to primarily attract adventurous ~30 year old travelers, and would be suitable for anyone of any age who is willing to give up Facebook for 3 days. Bring spare batteries for you camera and lots and lots of sunscreen!
