Patrick the captain was great with the able backup of Dane. Patrick was an able captain and great with the fish and id's. Dane filled in with good information and always checked to see if we were doing well. Outstanding! The food was great, too. They were environmentally conscious and stressed good behavior. Overall a great experience.

I did the full day Hol-chan tour with them with Jerry (I think) and Patrick. Fun and energetic and let some of the passengers sail the ship for a bit which was cool. Also when I was looking for a tour to see Altun-Ha they set me up with Major Tom which was incredible as it was literally a personal tour for me and my fiancé. Awesome company to go with!

well priced for the tours. The staff is very friendly, knowledgable, and they make safety a priority. We were originally booked for the 3 day sailing trip - which got cancelled due to rain. Clearly this was a loss for the company, as they completely refunded every person. We ended up doing the local reef tour (only 5 min away) and the all day Hol Chan Tour - both were worth it!!! Great snorkeling, and the guides were fun, personable, and charming! Make sure to stop here when you are walking around Caye Caulker.

Thank you HLoeff for taking the time to write! You are absolutely correct, canceling last week's trip was a huge loss to us but we have learnt in our 10 years of operation that weather is crucial to the success of the trip, never mind the safety of passengers! I am glad that we could at least accommodate you on our one day tour, so that you can see the level of professionalism we insist on from our staff - perhaps one day you will come back again to do our 3 day tour?
Thanking you once again for your complimentary write up!!

The Raggamuffin tour was one of the best experiences I had in Belize. Raggamuffin boys are delightful and super friendly! We left for a day of snorkeling and we saw and swam with many aquatic species (stingrays, manatees, barracudas, moray eel). As the group makes snorkeling, one of the two boys prepares a lunch based on fish marinated and nachos!
Highly recommended to those who love the sea!

Thank you Giovanna617 - I totally agree that we are the choice for those who love the sea!! We pride ourselves in all of our staff being super friendly and patient with one and all and I am very happy you felt this. Agreed the quality of snorkeling in the Marine Reserve is a huge contributor to your day out - that we are not providing, but it is very much the way in which we do it!

This was definitely a highlight of our trip in Caye Caulker and a must do.

We set off in an old wooden sailboat...its in a little need of some paint but very much fits the Belize scene. We stopped at 3 snorkeling spots. The first was a warm up spot. We were told to be careful not to touch or kick the coral...funny because the metal anchor and chain was thrown onto a large coral bommie. It was quite shallow only 3-4m at most, lots of coral and plenty of fish. Some spotted the odd shark or turtle.

Next we headed to shark and stingray alley. The sharks immediately recognized the boat and swim up to, so are clearly fed but are simply amazing to swim with...harmless nurse sharks and large rays. The guides grab the sharks by their tales, pull them to the surface and flip them over for you to touch. Sounds aggressive but its very gentle and the sharks seem very relaxed. Similar with the stingrays. I'm sure a marine biologist wouldn't approve..

Last stop was the most spectacular. We swam through a channel in the reef. We encountered 4 sea turtles, a moray eel, more coral, stingrays, a swim through cave and some very large tarpon. We had Dane, as the guide. He was very knowledgeable and looked after all of us. He dragged a bouy with him in case people got tired.

We sailed back which was great fun. The rum punch is roughly mix which makes it all that better. The group we had was great, we arrived back at the dock but didn't leave until the rum was finished, then carried on at the Lazy Lizzard and then Frans for dinner.

Captain ramsey was kind of grumpy, not the most positive guy but he did look after us and had good control over the vessel. Dane was great which evened the balance.

Overall a great trip!

Tips: take a waterproof bag, things do get wet on the wooden sailboat, even under the leaky cabin. Sunscreen is a must, apply well before getting in the water as a lot of people who applied still got burnt. A rash top is a good alternative. Take an underwater camera if you have one. They have plenty of water and food on board.

Thanks jamesgordon6 for taking the time to write - we really do appreciate all your comments!! I agree that the quality of marine life on the Hol Chan Marine Reserve tour is quite phenomenal - and believe it or not, they are always there!! The Nurse Sharks are put into a 'trance' when moved onto their back and this very much relaxes them - I somewhat agree that a true Marine Biologist may not agree with touching any of the marine life in the reserve, however, there is enormous educational value for kids and adults alike to be able to touch the sharks and realize that they are not as scary or dangerous as their reputation suggests!! And, it must be mentioned, that if the sharks were uncomfortable with this behavior at all then they would not keep on returning to the area! However, I do see your point!
As for grumpy Captain Ramsay - I will definitely communicate this to him - not tolerated at all on our boats, only happy Guides - very sorry!
Once again, thank you for your write up!!
