I booked this based on the reviews and was happy with my choice.

Quick summary: spacious, clean, good location, good views, professional staff

We stayed a few days here and opted for the penthouse as it wasn't too much more.

This hotel did keep emailing me a few times about picking up from the airport and sending a golf cart for me, they obviously make a commission for this or are helping out family ect. We read a review saying you have to wait for other guests for the same cost as the taxi so we made out own way and unless you have trouble with bags you may as well save a few dollars by walking. Nothing is far to walk to on Caye Caulker.

The hotel is easy to find, just walk right at the dock and keep going down the main street till you spot the tall yellow building.

The check-in was not really friendly but was very professional, a rarity in Belize where customer service is usually non existent. There was an British lady when we checked who was much friendlier.

You enter from the side of the pool and the part time reception is a small office by the front gate. We did use the pool once, we were the only ones and it was quite nice, certainly clean. A few deck chairs around too.

The penthouse was big, certainly for 2 of us. A number of sofas in the living area and also on the balcony. The kitchen had a breakfast bar and a good size fridge. We mostly ate out but was nice to keep a few beers cold. Nice view from the balcony over the pool and you can watch the kite surfers on the sea.

The bedroom had an en suite with a decent shower and the usual toiletries. What was nice was a walk in wardrobe with shelves and the safe, really useful as we had a fair bit of kit. There is a second bedroom and bathroom we didn't use, I think you get charged more to use these.

I didn't see the other rooms but other reviewers seem happy with them so I'll just mention that if you are likely to be in and out a lot, the penthouse is up a few sets of stairs so that might bother you.

The roof had loads of seating, hammocks and the jacuzzi. It was a bit windy so we didn't spend much time up here. As mentioned the Jacuzzi is not heated during the day and the only change I had to use it was about 4pm and it was a bit to cold to stay in.

The only other hotel we stayed in on Caye Caulker was the Mirimar which was like a 3rd world hostel with the classic rusty ceiling fan, broken light switches and showers. Looking around the island though, Caye Reef did look in better condition than everything else.

If I was going back, I'd certainly choose this place again.

Very minor things they could do to improve:
- heat the jacuzzi earlier, or put a heat switch on it
- erm, nothing else I can think off really

Room Tip: The penthouse was really nice and you might as well get it if you have a short stay as it is not too...

Thank you for your 5/5 review, we try hard to please and it is great when it is appreciated. Please note that no one at CayeReef has an interest in any taxi or golf cart. The invitation to help you with arrangements was just part of the service!

Experience has taught us that most guests like the hot-tub cool during the hot day and warm during the cooler evenings. We are always happy to turn on the hot-tub heater earlier on request.

We spent one week at Caye Reef Condos and had a TERRIFIC time! Bobbi and Heidi along with the other staff made the experience a great one. The whole staff was very friendly and willing to help and answer questions of any kind. The condo had everything we needed from; clothes iron, hair dryer, pots/pans, beach towels, shampoo/conditioner. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo was very spacious and the balcony views were gorgeous. Caye Reef is located near the "split" where the swimming beach is and just a short 5 minute walk to the main area of town where all the restaurants and bars are located.
Ask for "Caveman" when booking snorkeling and sunset cruise tours! He's usually always hanging around Raggamuffin Tours. Also, liquor is very expensive on the island, ensure you buy your liquor at Duty Free at the Belize Airport. You will save a lot of money. Belikin beer is very cheap on the island. We brought Starbucks coffee with us and I'm glad we did, the coffee on the island is horrible. We brewed coffee every morning in the condo.

Caye Caulker = amazing
Caye Reef = amazing
We will be back and will book again at Caye Reef!

Thank you for the wonderful review Deannam81, we are really pleased you enjoyed your Caye Caulker experience with us. FYI, while imported liquor is indeed expensive, the local alternatives are very good value. We look forward to welcoming you next year.

We spent a week at CayeReef and LOVED it. The staff were helpful without being intrusive and the condo was perfect in every way. It's not fancy by any means but the pictures don't do it justice; I was very pleasantly surprised.
It appeared to have been recently painted, everything was fresh and clean. The ceiling fans were new and SOLID. Sometimes the cheaper ones become wobbly quickly. As others have noted, the location was perfect. It's a small island anyway but CayeReef was just the right distance from the "downtown" although it never got rowdy or noisey even on the weekend. Plenty big for two people - loved having two bathrooms - and the living area easily accomodated several family members coming by to hang out.
We were in Room One and I was a little worried that it might get tiresome having other guests going by our door but the bedrooms were in the back and we never heard anything. We did appreciate the ease of access since there are no elevators and it's a bit of a climb to the 3rd floor.
I peeked into Room Two and we spent some time in I think it was Room 5 on the 3rd floor. Both had black sofas and I really liked the bright red in ours. Very colorful paintings all over.
Caye Caulker is a small village and we found everyone to be very friendly and helpful. If we go back, I'd most definitely return to CayeReef.

Room Tip: Room One, on the first floor, was great for easy access and still quiet. Nice partial view of the s...

We picked the CayeReef condos for our vacation because we had 2 couples, and it was the only place with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. What a great choice! It is in a great location, just a 2 minute walk to swimming at the Split. And it is just a 4 minute walk to the main area of town. You are just far enough from the hustle/bustle to have peace and quiet at night. The rooftop deck is beyond words. There are lounge chairs and hammocks that you can lay in, while you look at the sea in both directions because the island is so tiny. The apartment is clean, spacious, and fully functional with a kitchen and all necessary cookware. They even make sure you have a large bottle of fresh water to drink from (tap is safe, but tastes funny). Everyone was very friendly and be sure to pet the "watch" dog... he just watches, but don't expect him to guard! My only complaint is that the shower isn't enclosed enough, and water gets everywhere in the bathroom... but it is a beach town after all.

Where should I start ,Besides the fact that I have already pre booked caye reef for my next visit to caye caulker this year! Private pool for residents only, jacuzzi and hammocks on roof with amazing scenery of caye caulker and the ocean, and the location was the most perfect place!!! The condo was very clean, homey, beds so comfy, great flat screen TVs throughout, a kitchen with anything needed, private balcony overlooking the pool and front street. Our girls had so much fun going to pool, beach, or just going out on front street right in front of condo for a fresh shaved coconut or fresh coconut milk. Bobbi was very friendly and had all the answers of questions we had about the island! The perfect home away from home!!!!

We recently stayed at the Caye Reef for 3 nights. This place is very cute: loved the paintings on the wall and the fact that it has lots of window and a balcony that gives view on the pool and the beach. The jacuzzi on the roof is great to watch the sunset, although i wish the water was hotter. The location is great, closed to the Slipt, close to Terry's grill and a few convenient stores. The beach right in front of the hotel is just OK: small and not too much space for kids to swim, but it was fine because we just went to the Split for swimming.
I highly recommend Caye Reef.

Thanks for the 5* review tiaretahiti666, we work hard to make our guests happy and always value getting compliments in return. The jacuzzi temperature is hard to set right for all people given the tropical climate - we are always happy to turn up the heat for the more robust guests.

This hotel might be the best on Caye Caulker. The rooms we had were clean, nice modern furniture, and an awesome living room great for lounging with friends or family. All rooms have kitchens as well if you feel like staying in and cooking. We called the rooftop the "Super, Ultra, Premium Lounge." It has a jacuzzi, a couple of hammocks, lounge chairs for sun bathing, and a view of the entire island since the hotel is taller than almost every building on the island. I highly recommend CayeReef.
