We always start and finish every trip to Caye Caulker (we have been on the island 5 times) with a meal at Wish Willy.
One of the great things about Caulker is the great choice of good restaurants, but the best food to be had at any of them is found at Wish Willy.
Maurice (his name is not Willy) is a Chicago trained chef and he cooks a wide range of foods (on our last trip to the island we had lobster, lamb, chicken and beef at different meals) in a variety of different ways and sauces and the meals are consistently excellent.
While the food is great, the place may not be for everybody. There is no menu - Maurice will tell you what there is that day and how you will get it. You'll be sitting at tables in Maurice's yard. Service is not quick.
If those things don't bother you, you're in for a great time. The atmosphere is unlike anywhere else. There is always good music playing and Maurice is always entertaining. And you can't beat the food!
