When researching our trip to Belize I kept coming back to the website for White Sands Cove. It is a gorgeous website (kudos to Angie, I'm told.) which truly captures the laid-back vibe with pictures that do not do the place justice. The location along the sea wall and the well-maintained grounds make for a stunning and quaint resort. In the run up to our trip Terri, who is mentioned in every review, lived up to her reputation and took care of every detail. She provided everything from meal recommendations to golf carts to snorkeling and anything else we could want. She is a gem, and, along with Ruth and the super-sweet woman who cooks delicious food, they are the heart of this resort. She gave great opinions on transport options and arranged our pick up and our return back to the airport at the end of our trip. She handled any issues that arose efficiently and gracefully. She was super-organized in the billing process. And if she had not won us over already, she gave us a little bottle with sand and a piece of a shell from the beach at WSC upon our departure. So sweet. We <3 her lots! With that said...here is my review of our stay...

We were enthusiastically and warmly greeted by Terri when we arrived at the resort. She gave us welcome drinks at the bar while orienting us to the property. The welcome drinks I am pretty sure were on our bill as it was the only time I had rum punch. I see in other reviews those were complimentary, as they should be.

We were shown to our rooms. As previously stated the grounds are pristine and well-maintained. White sand, palm trees, lights wrapped around the trees, just lovely. We had two ocean-front units for three people. Both rooms have typical beach decor, small kitchens, nice-sized bathrooms and showers, TV, and (yay) A/C. We were grateful for the A/C units as we had just spent a few days in the jungle with none.

The bed in our room was absolutely awful and should be replaced immediately. It was like sleeping on a bouncy box spring. Very uncomfortable. We tossed and turned all night. I was so upset and felt betrayed by TripAdvisor. The linens were so worn you could see through them. When I told Terri she without hesitation agreed to move us and upgraded us to a two bedroom unit which gave us a choice of beds. Both were fine. Again, though, the linens were so worn they need to be replaced. The units could all use a few upgrades but nothing that was any big deal or that greatly impacted our stay other than the rooms need more hooks for wet clothes and/or a clothesline. All of our units had amazing views and were steps away from the ocean. They give you a gallon of water in your fridge and have ice cubes already made in the freezer. Nice touches because it is hot there. And they put flowers everywhere which is so nice.

Know that the resort only serves lunch and dinner and has no food or bar service on Wednesdays. I would love to see them add breakfast. I know the units have kitchens and we could have made breakfast (we didn't) it was a drag knowing we had to leave the property in the morning. They do offer coffee service for a few hours which is nice for coffee-drinkers. Ultimately our breakfasts each morning at Marbucks nearby were really nice and a chance for reliable wifi. Might as well talk about the wifi...

We were at WSC for four nights. The wifi only worked properly the last night. Very frustrating. Unfortunately our life circumstances are not such that we can totally unplug and I would not have stayed at a resort that had no wifi. We were not told in advance that there were wifi issues and upon arrival were told was that there was wifi at the bar. It never worked at the bar. We only got wifi, and not very good wifi, at the office. There was damage from Hurricane Earl a few weeks prior and they were still sorting it out during our stay. What can I really say? They did have hurricane damage...a lot still visible. There was plenty of wifi everywhere else so ultimately it was okay. The thing is...the place is so charming you cannot be angry with them. I dare you to try. They will nice you out of it.

The food served at the resort was all really delicious. It's a limited menu but has enough options where there is something for everyone. You would not want to have every meal there. Fortunately there are so many restaurants within a short walk or drive from the resort. Also whoever made the playlist for the bar is a genius. If you didn't like the song that was on just wait three or four minutes and your most favorite song ever would come on. Fantastic!

You have a flood light out -- the one on the sign at the front of the property. Made it easy to miss the turn at night.

Also, I really wanted a t-shirt and there were no t-shirts. Missed opportunity!

We loved our time at WSC! Hugs to you, Terri, for putting up with me/us, but mostly me ;)

Room tip: Oceanfront upstairs are the best.

Jill,
Thank you, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with potential future guests.

Unfortunately during your visit we had also had the the visit of hurricane Earl and our WiFi hot spot was damaged during that time. We have fixed the issue and now WiFi is accessible every where on the property. We are happy that your stay with us was everything you expected from us. Furthermore, thank you for acknowledging the various staff. I assure you that they are much appreciative of the high praises, and find it very rewarding. Our staff is always encouraged by positive reviews such as this one, which serves as a fuel driving their desire to offer superb service to all our guests.

We look forward to hosting you and your loved ones once more in the near future.

My wife and I just returned from a 10 day vacation at White Sands Cove on Ambergris Caye in Belize. We enjoyed a magnificent time there. Terri, the manager, greeted us upon our arrival and walked us to the bar for a complimentary rum punch. Our room was upgraded to a room with an ocean view and was amazing with beautiful Caribbean colors, a full kitchen, AC, large beds and very comfortable furniture.

Ruth tended bar and was a real delight and, likeTerri and all the staff, treated us like family.

There were so many fun activities and adventures to explore in Belize and Terri took care of all the arrangements. We traveled the island on golf carts and complimentary bikes were also available. There are so many excellent restaurants on Ambergris Caye and the local Caribbean Gold Rum is excellent with an amazing flavor.

While at the White Sands Cove resort, we kayaked out to the barrier reef, tied up to a buoy and snorkeled through the afternoon. On another day, we went reef fishing and came back with a cooler of snapper and grunts which Miss Miguel cooked up for our dinner. She served the fish three ways, blackened, fried, and curried. She also served up a plate of coconut rice to go with it. She is the chef on the premises and is a real treasure. Everything tastes amazing!

On another excursion we climbed to the top of the largest Mayan site, Xunantunich, and later, rode inner tubes down a river through caves thought by the Mayans to be the entrance to the "underworld". While in Belize we also dived with Nurse sharks, rays, horse eyed jack, barracuda, and even swam with a Manatee. There was so much to see and experience and Terri set everything up for us.

I heartily recommend that, when traveling to Belize, you stay at the White Sands Cove resort on Ambergris Caye. The resort is on the beach and has everything you would want, including a pool. The staff is amazing, the food is excellent, and Terri sees to your every comfort. The folks at WSC really do treat you like family.

You owe it to yourself to visit Ambergris Caye and enjoy a few nights at this wonderful resort.

From the get go setting up the trip was made easy. Terri takes care of you answering all questions and makes the process seamless. The resort with Terri at the helm will set up your excursions, handle any issues or questions making your stay enjoyable and relaxing. They treat you better than family! The staff was wonderful from the front office, housekeeping, bar staff, cook and groundskeeping take pride in the resort and it shows. Ruth was engaging and made mean drinks, Miguela made the dining experience flavorful. We took the water taxi from Belize City to San Pedro it was a wonderful experience and we would travel that method again. While there we rented a golf cart to explore, we kayaked from the resort to town enjoying the experience, we used the resort provided bikes to get to town as well. The room AC was a wonderful addition adding to our comfort. Since we went during what is considered off season we didn't have to deal with crowds. Would highly recommend this resort. Thanks again Terri for all you do.

Room tip: Sea view was wonderful. Quieter since it wasn't near the pool.

When our greeter and host, Terri, came to the dock we asked her to put away the red carpet. She treated us like the rich relatives from the very moment our feet got until the teary good bye. You couldn't ask more from such a gracious person. Though she quit laughing after the third or fourth joke about seeing more iguanas than chicken yet the latter was still on the menu. She's happy when you're happy. Very accommodating and very pet friendly.

But what about the food service? Find out for yourself when you come here for your moment in paradise.

We had an amazing time staying here, Terri was absolutely great and truly handles everything for you! We didn't have to make a single phone call. She even took care of calling and making sure our luggage got to us since the airline had lost it. The beach in front of the resort isn't a beach you can get in the water, but there is sand and chairs out there to lay in if you'd like. We spent all of our time at the wonderful pool and doing excursions every morning so we definitely didn't miss having a swim-able beach right out front. Plus the "Secret Beach" which is the most popular beach is just down the road. Would definitely recommend staying on this side of the bride versus the other side more in town, we felt extremely safe and had a ton of top food choices right down the road. The cook at WSC is amazing too!! We went fishing one day and she cooked all the fish we caught for us and it was the best fried and bbq'ed fish we had the whole trip, and we ate fish everyday! Only thing that would be better is if they offered breakfast so you could have something before going out on excursions at 8am, but you have a full kitchen with blenders, toasters, refrigerators, griddle top, and microwave along with some grocery stores and fruit vendors near by so you can just simply make your own breakfast. Terri has great connections with trustworthy excursion companies. The only thing we didn't book through Terri was our golf cart! We would 100% stay here again if/when we make our way back to Belize.
