Just returned from a 7 night stay, the location is great for shopping and resturants. The rooms are very clean, the maid and staff are very friendly and helpful and speak english. The night life can sometimes be noisey, but the 2 nights it was we just wore earplugs and slept very well every night, their new Tempurpedic beds are awesome. There are more secluded hotels to stay at but be prepared to spend a lot more, this hotel is the best for a reasonable price. The Wifi worked great and the TV had many channels and a DVD player. A good spot to watch the local action.

The Conch Shell was very reasonably priced and offered spectacular views. It's right in the heart of town which we really enjoyed - close to attractions, stores, etc. A beehive of activity and the owner as well as staff were extremely nice and helpful as needed. We originally booked a lower level room but were upgraded for a modest fee. The views on the upper level are better and the kitchenette was great. Very comfortable, cozy and convenient all around. If you want quiet and secluded, this is not the place for you. But if you enjoy people watching and being close to the "action" of San Pedro, it's perfect.

The owners, Joan and Mark, are awesome. They were brilliantly helpful, warm, and friendly.

The room is nice and fairly priced.

It was literally the first place off the water taxi, so is really in downtown. This was perfect for us - we could walk to the local dives, wake up late for reef tours, and had immediate access to stores, food, and bike rentals.

San Pedro is nearly a city these days, so don't go in thinking you're gonna be all on a quiet island. It was poppin every night we were there, and the main street is a highway of taxi vans, bikes, and golf carts.

If you wanna get it away from it all and spend the big bucks go north or south a couple of miles, but if you want to be in the action, this is a pretty safe place for just that.

Just returned from 3 nite stay at the Conch Shell Inn, Ambergris Caye, Belize. This place is the best value we have found! For low rates you are on the beach and in the center of town with just about everything within easy walking distance. This is not a glitzy resort that looks like every resort. This is a small hotel oozing ambiance and island culture. A trip back to how it once was in the Islands. Rooms are spotless, beds are comfy, staff and owners are helpful and gracious. We could not find a single fault.

This is a great hotel if you want to be in San Pedro. We have visited Ambergis many times, and have stayed in town, and out. We prefer to be in town, and close to restaurants and shops.
The staff at the Conch Shell are great. They helped us book tours and get golf carts, at much better rates than were given to family members staying at a time share north of town. There was daily housekeeping with fresh towels daily.
The wifi was free and worked perfectly; it was the fastest and most relialbe internet we've ever had in Belize. This was a great benefit to the Conch Shell.
The best thing about the Conch Shell may be the Temperpedic Beds. We have one at home, and after staying in 2 other hotels throughout Belize, it was wonderful to get a full night's sleep!
Being in the middle of town may make some worry about noise. We found our room to be quiet each night before 10 p.m. - earlier than that on most nights.

My husband & I arrived in San Pedro on the afternoon of Oct. 23 (the evening Richard came). That Sat. even. the town was batting down the hatches - readying for Hurricane Richard. Thankfully the storm did not hit the island, but instead, sadly, Belize Ciry and Belmopan. We felt safe at the Conch Shell - windows had been boarded up and other precautions taken, By morning the sun was out and shining brightly, and the town was cleaning up debris. Everything was returning back to normal.
We stayed through Nov 9th and had a great time. The beds were comfortable, the inn was very clean and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We found nothing that did not suit us. We had an upstairs room equipped with a mini fridge and a microwave, and a coffee pot. A hammock just out our door on the veranda, and a wonderful view of the reef out our window and from our veranda - a wonderful place to just hang out and relax. The location of the inn is second to none. It is within walking distance to anything you might want to do, or anyplace one might want to go to - shops, restaurants, grocery store, laundry, golf cart rentals and bicycle rentals just steps away, etc. GREAT! We can't wait to go back to San Pedro. and will not hesitate to stay at the Conch Shell Inn again.

Just came back from a week at the Conch Shell Inn and had a great time. The room was bright, airy with a great waterfront view and very clean. Staff was very responsive and polite and helped with whatever I needed. The place is right in the middle of town on the beach, literally steps away from excellent dive shops, shopping and restaurants. They can also assist with sightseeing tours if desired. I stayed on the second floor, facing east. Daybreak would flood the room with sunlight if the shutters were left open, which I did not mind, nor did I use A/C as I found the fans worked quite nicely.

If you are an independent traveler, either solo or with other folks, seeking a clean, comfortable room at very reasonable price close to all the activities, this place is for you.

I would definitely go back.

The only drawback I can think of is it is not very quiet as it is in the middle of town, but I had no issues, just a very relaxing week that showed when I got back to the office.
