“great host and great little gem”
Reviewed March 25, 2009

Pedro was fantastically helpful to a lost damsel in distress. He was a genial host, providing delicious pizza and had a great well stock bar, with a lovely friendly atmopshere. The rooms were comfy, quite and the cosy and the bathrooms were clean and neat. I would recommend this little gem as a great base for exploring San pedro and meeting other like minded people,

We were 2 backpackers staying in San Pedro for few days. Pedro's Inn was a great hostel for our purposes, a tidy, simple room for a low price. There is a cozy bar downstairs with nice people and cold drinks. A little minus for the nearby airport, the planes will surely wake you up in the morning, but this island is not a place to sleep your day away!

I recently stayed at Pedro's Inn in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize because it was the cheapest option on the island. I lived and learned!!! I would NEVER stay there again, nor recommend them to anyone. The "deluxe" room was $50 a night and was a [--] hole for the price. Yes, you have a bed, TV, sink, toilet and falling down shower, but it is worth maybe $10 a night in the states. I've stayed in very basic accomodations around the planet and this was amongst the worst for the price. If it were $10 a night, I wouldn't be complaining. The redeeming quality is the bar staff in the attached bar. They were wonderful. It is an indoor bar (not on the beach) and there is A LOT of jager drinking going on. But I did meet wonderful staff and some wonderful fellow travelers as well. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk to the town of San Pedro, in a residencial part of the island. The owner, Peter, will most likely buy you a shot of jager when you arrive....so be prepared. I urge you, as a potential customer of Pedro's Inn, to just know what you're getting into if you choose to get into it! If I were ever to go back to Ambergris Caye, I would spend a little more for a room that I wasn't grossed out by.

We stayed at Pedro's for 3 nights. The first two nights were in one of the "deluxe" rooms, which are very nice and a great value. We stayed the third night in a hostel room, which was much better than I expected. The hostel rooms are very basic, but clean and comfortable. And you will barely spend any time in them because there is so much else to do. If you want to save your money for diving or other activities, stay at Pedro's. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Peter (Pedro), Walter, and Pablo will make your stay enjoyable and fun. By the end of our third day, we had enjoyed many an icy beer in the bar, eaten several tasty homemade pizzes, met a bunch of other travelers, and become friends with Pedro and his staff. My friend even enjoyed an afternoon as a guest bartender in the bar. And Pedro himself drove us to the airport in his golf cart. You will have a blast if you stay here. Hands down an all around fantastic place. We hope to be back soon!!

We just finished a four-day getaway to Belize, staying one night in Caye Caulker and the remaining three nights at Pedro's. We wanted a clean, inexpensive accomodation in San Pedro to free up the budet for excursions, nice meals, and drinking. I read the reviews for Pedro's it seemed to fit the bill. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms, as my fiancee insisted on private bathrooms. The accommodations far exceeded our expectations. The room was clean at check-in, with daily maid service, fresh towels, working A/C, TV (not that there's ever time to watch it), and easy access to everything that Caye Ambergris offers. Absolutely perfect if you are looking for a home-base to explore Belize. We worried that the "south of town" location would present an accessibility problem. We soon learned that San Pedro is VERY small, and Pedro's is only a few blocks from the airstrip and a quick walk from the ferry terminal.

In addition to the accommodations, Pedro's offers one of the best bar/restaurant joints on the island. The ambience is generally drinking/poker, with a jovial mix of island locals and passing tourists professing mutual appreciation for the beauty of nature and the cool burn of a frozen jager shot. A friendly, family-style poker game gave me the opportunity to meet the regulars and down several night caps while gaining invaluable local knowledge on the best spots to eat, drink, and tour.

The owner, Pedro himself, is generous, talkative, and an amusement in and of himself. We will be quick to spend our next nights in San Pedro at Pedro's Inn, and will bring friends.

  • Liked — The inn advertised honestly about its level of luxury, leading to managed expectations and subsequent pleasure that those expectations were exceeded. The inn is an evening community unto itself, providing a fallback for the tired traveler who wants laid back company.
  • Disliked — when we attempted to check in early, there was no direction as to how to obtain our room key.

It's over a year since I was last here & I have to say this place gets better & better.
The accommodation (I was is the de-luxe room) is of the of same high standard, value for money, it always was. Room is cleaned (well) daily, towels changed, etc. as well as any more expensive hotels could do.
The pubby, friendly, atmosphere in the bar is as welcoming as ever & pizzas still the best in town.
Hostel now has a swimming pool/deck that gives the place more of an identity. Daily would find a decent bunch of people enjoying this facility & the whole experience is better for it.
Look no further than Pedro's for a good time in San Pedro!

For the budget minded traveler, Pedro's Inn is perfect. I was lucky enough to stay in the deluxe room (full size bed and personal bath) for a few nights and everything was great. There's a bar on the premises that has plenty of belikin and jager, as well as a big tv and a wii! it's a short walk from the beach and from the center of town. Walter and Peter are extremely helpful and are great hosts. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good cheap place to stay in San Pedro.

The standard room is very basic (2 twin beds, a light, window, storage space under the bed). If you've got a few extra bucks I highly recommend getting the deluxe room. The pool is pretty sweet too.
