I got married at this resort in February. I was very nervous to have a wedding at a resort I'd never been to and to trust the management to help set up the reception. I was so pleasantly surprised. The first thing to note is the hospitality is wonderful. These people are ORGANIZED. The wedding and reception turned out just beautiful and was better than I imagined. The room we were upgraded to was wonderful. The view was unbeatable. I will be back here some day. I felt it was well worth the money, and I hope they don't continue to raise their prices, as watching it over a couple years planning the wedding, prices kept rising. I can't forget the location. I loved being just outside the city. It was close enough to walk or bike to but far enough that our beach wasn't as busy because it was just far enough out... it was perfect.

Stayed in the 2 bdrm condo (suite #1), and it was very clean and nice, with a beautiful view of the pier. The pool provides a serene atmosphere, and the pier a nearby place to snorkel and swim. The full kitchen was very useful for coffee and breakfasts each morning. The office allows free bike rentals, which are VERY handy for traveling into town, but require them back by 5 pm. So if you plan to go out anywhere after 5, you must pay for a taxi. The staff was generally helpful in recommending restaurants and making reservations for excursions. We highly recommend NOT going during the rainy season though - the mosquitos are vicious! They attacked us in the pool and on the pier. They hovered in front of our room, waiting for us to enter and exit. We killed at least a dozen inside the room every night before going to bed (the first night we woke up with several new bites).

My girlfriend and I spent 7 nights at Xanadu and had a wonderful time - Suite #1 is right on the ocean and a nice view to wake up and end the day to. I echo what all the other reviews said! The only issues are the mosquitos and rain (cave tubing was canceled) in October, but on the plus side the island was relatively serene during the down season (and that obviously has nothing to do with Xanadu). The only issue was that the air conditioner was not working and we mentioned it and were told it was on the wrong setting, then spent another hot night and finally had it fixed...but that was relatively minor and overall I would recommend Xanadu to anyone looking to visit Belize!

My new wife and I spent our honeymoon at Xanadu (Oct. 19-26). We LOVED it.

The staff is constantly working to keep the place tidy-- raking the grounds, cleaning up foliage, etc. It shows.

The lofts (we stayed in #15) were very spacious, cool, and comfortable. We used the kitchen area to prepare breakfast every moring. They had all the utensils we needed. Beds were soft, and pillows were plentiful. Housekeeping kept us in clean towels and cleaned up all the sand we tracked in each day.

Everyone was so friendly. They helped us to plan excursions (diving, and inland tours), checked on us WHILE ON THE TOURS, and asked us when we got back if we enjoyed ourselves. They were always asking for feedback, and they take it to heart.

The pool was immaculate.

We loved our trip, and we plan to return. Xanadu was like being among friends, and we were treated extremely well!

This small resort is located right on the ocean and the condos are clean, modern and very safe. I traveled with my aunt and son and we all loved the staff (especially Ingrid, Shirley, Orlando, and Isaiah). The pool is pretty and the staff helps you to arrange any type of trip or activity you desire. However, if you go in October beware of the horrible mosquitos!

We recently spent our honeymoon at Xanadu in Ambergris Caye. It was an amazing experience. The resort itself is beautifully maintained and the staff and service was always exceptional. It felt like our home while we stayed there. The snorkeling tours we took with Alphonse were amazing too, Mexico Rocks is a must see!!! Thank you all for such a wonderful time.

We stayed at Xanadu 9/20-9/28 (the very slow season for Ambergris Caye). Upon arrival we were instantly welcomed with warm personalities and tons of useful suggestions for our stay. We stayed in Unit #4 (studio) and it was all you could ever need for two people. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, the bed was very comfortable (plenty of extra pillows and blankets), they have an excellent cable tv package (for those rainy days or on days you might be feeling under the weather).

The grounds were kept up really well. I don't think there was a morning that went by that we didn't see Orlando out there raking up the beach or areas around the units. The pool and deck are maintained really well. There is a large selection of books in the office book-share area. The bikes, snorkle equipments, and towels are all in good shape. Can't beat the rental price- FREE!

Private resort: we were there in the low season, and there were only 5 units occupied during our stay. There was always a spot available under a palapa, at the pool, or on the pier. I believe that this would still be the case even if all 19 units were occupied (we counted the number of chairs- and they have plenty).

Location: is fantastic, unless you want to be right downtown everyday. Even though the street outside the resort is sometimes very busy, the resort sits back far enough away from it that it isn't an issue at all. Downtown & restaurants not within walking distance are a mear $10BZ ride away (sometimes $5BZ if you can haggle). We walked into town several times, which takes about 20 minutes if you take the beach route.

Stacey & Shirley were so accomodating as we tried to figure out which tours we were going to do. And we didn't have to worry about the resort adding an upcharge to the tour fees.

We highly recommend this resort to anyone who wants a more "private" experience without the "private" cost.
