If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet and family-friendly place to relax, then this is the spot for you. The staff is overwhelmingly nice and helpful. We were greeted with tropical rum drinks and the nicest people to welcome us. Evelyn is awesome. They will go out of their way to carefully explain how the island works and makes the start of your vacation stress free. Our suite smelled like a spa with fresh flowers everywhere and our golf cart was ready and waiting for us. The resort is very close to the town center but far away enough from all the buzz of golf carts and taxis. It is kept impeccably clean and you truly feel like you are staying in the tropics rather than an über-contemporary place that you can find anywhere. Highly recommend this place to friends and family. We will definitely come back.

I really enjoyed my time at Xanadu. We opted for one of the upgraded rooms that had beach/ocean views and it really made the location special. Even though we had a lot of rain during our stay, I was able to take in the scenery from our patio/deck, watch the sun rise, watch the weather and the clouds, wonderful.
The staff is great in helping you decide what adventures you might take, but we were there for Hol Chan and the snorkeling and that is all we did, beside eat and relax. For snorkeling, the best time we had was when we took a 2-person kayak out to the buoys directly off-shore and snorkeled on the reef. A very special moment for my wife and I.
One thing to keep in mind is that there are no restaurants or bars at Xanadu, something that may keep us from coming back. Still, the complete kitchen set-up is great, saves some money and perhaps is all you need as in-town restaurants are a short cab and walk away. My favorite restaurant in town is certainly Elvi’s and their coconut curry shrimp is amazing!

Room Tip: Get the rooms with beach/ocean views!

Xanadu exceeded our expectations. This place is hard to describe, but have to say we were all chocking back tears leaving after our 5-night stay.
While this is a small property relative to other condo/villa type properties in San Pedro, Xanadu has such character! The buildings with grass roofs and rounded walls are a throwback to some other era----a fantasy of Gilligan's Island crossed with "Lost" and 60's architecture. Add the many trees in the middle of the property and you're staying in your very own tree-house paradise, with birds, iguanas..... and Wi-fi to boot! The resort photos do not do this place justice!
While the property itself is uber-charming, the staff were the cherry on top! Everyone was friendly and accommodating; we especially appreciated Melanie, Franz and Orlando.
The 2bedroom unit we stayed in (#14) was a garden view, but I would not trade it for ocean front. We enjoyed not only a magnificent perch in the trees but also a partial view of ocean and complete privacy. Our family spent much of our time out on the large deck enjoying the tropical breeze.
Beds were very comfortable, and kitchen and living room were well stocked with anything we needed.
The location was outstanding and after exploring the island we decided that being south of the town (1 mile) was ideal. An excellent bakery was a 2-minute walk (3 loaves of whole grain bread and 5 cinnamon rolls later, not sure we lost any weight), as was a grocery store.
Xanadu is also walking distance to excellent dining, including: Melt, Ricos (for lunch), Hidden Treasure, Blue Water Grill (1/2 mile north). We walked into town for dinner which was an easy 1 mile stroll and always entertaining to see the golf-cart traffic go by.
The resort provided good quality snorkeling equipment which we used for our two snorkeling trips with Lil Alfonse. We also used the resort bikes for a half-day ride to the north end of the island (grateful for the fat tires and padded seats). We never got around to using the kayaks, as it was quite windy during our first few days.
We are already planning our return visit for next year!

Room Tip: We enjoyed being on the upper floor for a bird's nest view of life.

Stayed 5 nights and did not want to leave. You will be impressed by the tropical setting and pool area. You can relax by the pool or shoreline; either way you will be at peace. Staff was great! Melanie, Cathy, Orlando, and Franz always a pleasure to deal with. Condo was well equipped. You can go to the local markets and cook yourself or take a 15-20 minute walk downtown to the local eateries. We had an ocean front view which I highly recommend. I wish I was there right now drinking a Belikin from the porch! Complimentary kayaks was also a plus. Thanks Xanadu!

We loved this place! It does not matter what time your place arrives, all you have to do is get a taxi and Xanadu pays the taxi -- great set-up!. On your way out, same thing, they pay the taxi. Once at Xanadu, we got the island-living kind of experience in a nice, clean, modern room, but not a big hotel nor cookie-cutter "hotelish". Very relaxing place. We did not mind the lack of restaurant onsite because there were plenty of choices a short walk (5-10 minutes) away, on the beach in the town of San Pedro to choose from. Several times we had breakfast at The Melt (best huevos rancheros!). Down the Xanadu's driveway there is a small grocery store called Marinas where we found good snacks and drinks - don't bother with $6 dollar bags of Doritos, the locally-made tortilla chips are fresh and great tasting. Belikin beer is only $1.50 US. BTW, you can also just walk up to the hotel side-window and get sodas, beer, water, more coffee, etc. We were celebrating a birthday and had a marvelous meal at The Hidden Treasure (the restaurant staff came to pick us up in a golf cart). Juan was a taxi driver we engaged several times and was wonderful! We enjoyed our snorkeling and snuba expeditions so much that we can't wait to come back in the near future.

Stayed at Xanadu for 2 weeks in one of the Garden Suites.

Having seen the other places in San Pedro I have to say I definitely think we chose the best. Xanadu has the perfect balance of a relaxed high-end resort, without feeling like a manufactured American resort (which most of the other "nice" places in San Pedro seem to be).

The staff were fantastic and continually helpful with anything we needed, making restaurant recommendations, reservations and helping to book trips, even when we wanted to use providers other than the ones they would as normal direct you towards.

I can strongly recommend Xanadu to anyone going to San Pedro.

This hotel is a great little gem about a 10-15 minute walk from the center of San Pedro. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, well-appointed, and kept very clean.
every room has a balcony or outside space which is lovely to sit out on. The staff is outstanding - very friendly, accommodating, and seem to enjoy working there. We arranged our excursions through the office and were very pleased with the trips we took. We travelled in early December which is the slow season so neither the hotel nor the town was inundated with people which was nice, but I feel sure the atttitude of the staff would be the same no matter what!
