The staff was incredible...From Sabrina & Patojo (the owners) to the family that takes care of everything. When you come to the Tides you feel like you come home. Dive and snorkel with Rafa & Oscar, Hang at the bar with Saheed or just chill with Jiggy. We had the best time ever and can't wait to go back. Lots of cold air and hot water. Located right on the beach just north of town which is perfect because it was quiet but still close enough to town when you need it.

San pedro has alot to offer just about anyone. Be sure to stop by the Winner's Spot on Barrier Reef Dr. and say hello to Butch the bartender "the best on the island" NO JOKE.
While there grab some of the best BBQ just outside from T.C. and enjoy!

I stayed here with family on a dive trip to Belize. Very relaxing hotel, great recreational diving, fantastic location. We don't like to go to any traditional American hotspots and would much rather stay somewhere with a local feel but sometimes that can get you in trouble. This hotel was perfect though. It was a great price with one-on-one service. The bar by the pool was perfect and the bartender (I can't remember his name now) was very friendly. We hung out there at night listening to stories from our dive masters and their friends and had more fun than going to other bars that had more going on (they all suggested tons of places had we wanted to go) We spent a lot of time there and on the hammocks right across the "street" on the beach. Were a little nervous to look at our bar bill upon checkout as the 2 of us had spent 7 days grabbing a drink here and there since they just put it on a tab, and we were amazed that it was so low; it really made the vacation that much better! The dive crew was great and offered a lot for the price which was very reasonable. We really felt like family by the time we left, I would DEFINITELY return!
If you are looking for a lot of nightlife or amenities this is not the place for you. Simple but nice rooms, worked great because we didn't spend much time in there. Great place for walking down the beach to find a place for dinner, and definitely rent bikes one day to ride the island.

The Tides hotel is perfectly located! It also was very well priced since we had budget in mind. we had an ocean view room that was very clean and spacious. my friend and i stayed two nights. Our room had 2 big double beds, air conditioning, fans, tv, a fridge, and a large bathroom and shower - great hot water! the hotel has a pool on site with a bar and right across the street is the beach. The tides also has a scuba/snorkel center on their very own pier. we went on an afternoon snorkel trip to Hol Chan Marine reserve and Shark alley with 2 guides from the hotel and they were great. We swam with sea turtles, sting ray, and nurse sharks! thanks Syed! the staff at the Tides are so warm and friendly. the tides is right on the beach and everything is in walking distance: restaurants, bars, shopping, definitely would stay here again!

  • Liked — location and pier
  • Disliked — breakfast was ok, but there are tons of restaurants in san pedro and in walking distance

Everytime you go to the TIdes it is like going home. You are greeted with hugs and warmth that you do not get anywhere else. Even if it is your first say you immediately become part of the family. They have extended the hotel to accomodate larger groups so that a family can stay together. We saw Sabrina put together a beautiful wedding while we were there in April. Food caught that morning fresh from the sea.

The personalized attention you get with the diving is incredible. You dont have to worry about having a group large enough. Patojo will take out 2 of you. Also combinination snorkel dive trips can be made if you have a non-diver. Close enough to walk to town and quiet by 9pm. Great place to have younger divers get their certification very family kid friendly.

Would highly recommend!

A group from my college stayed here during our 2007 Spring Break Trip on our last two days. It was nice. The rooms were nice. The staff was helpful after I fell down breaking a chair. They took us out on a boat to do some snorkeling with the wild life.

I loved the Tides! I planned this trip for myself and an ex, I went by myself anyway, and had the best time of my life! I had another room booked for the first three nights (Hotel Rio), and decided to find a room for the remainder of my holiday when I arrived. I had looked at The TIdes website and wanted to stay there, but didn't book anything. I found the bar my first hour in San Pedro, and stayed there the whole time :)! Butch is SWEET, as you will see.
There were a few drawbacks, like being located next to the high school, but it made for interesting scenes being played out right in front of me! Everyone was so friendly, and heplful. It's about a ten minute walk to town, but it is so beautiful who cares! They rent bikes but the beach is pretty bumpy to ride on and the bikes not the best. The rooms were cleaned every morning, so if you want to sleep in leave a note on the door!!!! I was able to stay there six nights in three different rooms. I liked the top floor on the corner. I paid cash and received the discount. You can pay for your drinks as you go, or pay the tab at the end, ouch! Thanks to Chabo, Butch, Martin, Tony, Said, Mari, Sagri, Patojo, Sabrina, and the rest of the gang for making my trip the best I've ever had! DeBelize

some friends of mine stayed at the tides last year and suggested it to me.it is small and quiet(after 10pm-when it matters)and a family operation.my room was spacious and pretty with cold a/c and a nice tub with plenty of hot water.the bed was very big.it was nice to have a fridge in the room too.breakfast is included with the rate and every morning the staff would fix yummy eggs, ham, toast or johnny cakes, fruit and delicious fresh squeezed orange juice.everyone who works there-from butch the bartender(that title does not do justice to describe all of his duties and the importance of his job)to the ladies who take care of the rooms and fix breakfast(marie and shantel are fabulous)to the paz family(all 8 of them!)and the divemasters(patojo and martin and john-they are all so passionate about the tours)every single member of this staff/family went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and relaxed.it is a few minutes north of the main area of town-just enough to be convenient yet not in a crowded or loud area like some of the more centrally located hotels.i will never stay anywhere else when i visit san pedro!also people should know that the operation is one of a handful that is owned by the locals and the money that is spent there actually stays on the island(where it is needed!)forgo all those snooty private isolated establishments and stay here!!unless you are snooty!i stayed north of the bridge my first visit and missed out on a lot of special interaction with the people who live there-it is much better to stay near town!
the only negative thing i have to say is that the mattress was a bit worn-but it was a king size so there was plently of space to avoid the bumpy parts(again,if you are coming for a memory foam deluxe gazillion dollar mattress than you should either stay home or stay in a resort where you can isolate yourself away from any semblance of real interaction with the beautiful and kind san pedranos)that said,i restate that i will never stay anywhere else-the mattress was sleepable and i had lovely dreams-then i woke up and looked out my window and thought i was still dreaming!!

  • Liked — staff,location,view,wondeful room,staff staff staff!!!!
  • Disliked — a few bumps in the mattress-no big deal
