Banana Beach Resort
Ranked #38 of 55 Hotels in San Pedro

The best part of Banana Beach is the beach! Beautiful views, small town feel, reasonable prices. My suite at Banana Beach had a gorgeous ocean front balcony. I never wanted to leave the room -- but had to since room internet access was spotty at best.

The suite included a kitchenette which was basic and serviceable and a bedroom with no TV. Again, the real life views were incredibly tranquil! The restaurant was just okay, the outdoor bar was small and closed early, the pool was average...but did I mention the views of the Caribbean?!!

Staff was friendly and the island itself is incredibly quaint and welcoming -- Golf cart transportation and vendors by the roadside. Was a very good value.

In the pool, over to the Breezeway Bar and Romeo kept us company all afternoon as he made drinks and kept all the customers refreshed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the golf cart rides and the hospitality put forth by Crystal and Jimmy hideaway on the beach. Looking forward to our return soon with new friends on our way to the mainland.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great.

This was our fourth trip Ambergris Caye and our third time staying at Banana Beach Resort. The beachfront suites are the best deal if you like to have extra space and the convenience of a kitchen.
Crystal and Jimmy are the most hospitable owners I have ever met. The friendly and accommodating staff are always available for your every need. They have all become our " Belizian family"!
El Divino is an excellent restaurant offering a large variety of foods and drinks. We dine there often when staying at Banana Beach.
Conveniently located the resort is a short walk to town by beach, there are taxis and golf carts always available as well. Banana Beach is a great deal for your buck.

We hope to return soon!

The Good:
Banana Beach is a cute, well kept resort. The rooms are roomy, and we had a great view. Everything you need to stay in and cook if you want to. And you may want to, with how expensive things are on Ambergris Caye! The staff was curtious and helpful. The pool is great. We had breakfast included in our package, and it was excellent every day.
Ir you are a diver, there is a pier adjacent to the hotel where dive shops will pick you up!

The Not So Good:
We stayed at Banana Beach because we wanted a place that was close to town, but not "in" town. The travel site said it was less than a mile from San Pedro. It was probably pushing 3 miles. My wife and I walk a lot when on vacation, but by the time our vacation was winding down, I'd had enough. It's one thing to walk around all day in Paris or London, but on Ambergris Caye, there is nothing to see between Banana Beach and San Pedro. Just miles or poorly crafted, dusty streets.

There's also no beach. Again, the travel site stated sandy beach. There is not. However, that can be said for many places on Ambergris Caye. Dispite it being a tropical island, it lacks nice sandy beaches. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice sandy beaches, but we found you'll need a scooter and a sence of adventure to find the nice ones.

All in all it's a nice hotel. Just expect to rent a golf cart or take a taxi. Neither of which is cheap!

Room Tip: Reserve a view room in advance.

This was our fourth trip Ambergris Caye and our third time staying at Banana Beach Resort.
We will always return there as it is like a piece of paradise. We had a wonderful beachfront suite that was very roomy and well kept. What always brings us back here is the fantastic owners and staff here. Crystal and Jimmy are exceptional hosts who take time out of their busy day to see how you are doing and if everything is going good. The staff there such as Sean, Serg, KC, KeeKee and Mr. Trop are always great to see and always have a smile on their face. If you are looking for a place to go and relax, snorkel, fish and dive this is the place to go. Cant wait to our next trip back as we never want to leave.

Thanks Banana Beach!

For the price, you absolutely could not get a better deal! The service is wonderful and the staff is soooo helpful! They lined up all of the excursions and we were p.u. on the dock at the hotel each a.m.
