“Good value for money”
Reviewed January 9, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at Banyan Bay an expected Rico's to be your typical over-price hotel restaurant - not so. Rico's is well price compared to other tourist restaurants in the area. Staff are friendly - ocassionally slow if it's busy.

Great food, GREAT cocktails - try the Rico's Colada - and the BEST view.

“A nice place on the beach, not for large group.”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We ate at Rico's twice during our wedding trip to Belize in December 2012. On our first night, December 6th, we ate lobster caesar salad, which was fine, The lobster didn't taste all that fresh, but we were so hungry and tired that it was fine. For desert we split a slice of coconut pie and it was outstanding.

We decided to visit again on December 10th when most of our wedding party arrived, and unfortunately they weren't prepared for a large party of 13. The food was cold and the drinks were very late to arrive. However the spicy shrimp we had was outstanding, and the key lime pie was the best on the island.

The service was a little slow. Waitress forgot to bring coffee as well as the wine that came with the meal special.

“Cold BBQ - can't get worse”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

We found this place as we were walking along the beach and we stopped for lunch. The restaurant looked just great on a short pier. We had fajitas. The food was OK although not sizzling hot. One of the staff invited us to come back in the evening for their special BBQ and also mentioned the Happy Hour until 7PM. It seemed like a great idea on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, it didn't meet our expectations. My lobster was cold. My husband's chicken was cold. Cold BBQ - what a joke! The price was a joke! My lobster dish cost 30 USD! It's the lobster season in December for crying out loud! A typical tourist trap.

“Slow service and so so food”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

We ate here for lunch twice and it was just fine. Service was slow and inattentive. Dinner was awful, with a large menu but not many island choices. The bar and indoor area should be rearranged to make it cozier; not just a pass-through on your way to the outdoor area. The outdoor area could easily be made more cozy by adding some decor and plants. It's right on the water with great views; someone could really make this place hum!
