OK, we've been to San Pedro (and Fido's) at least a dozen times and we were just there with a huge group of divers. Our good buddy Kelly Maguire was playing around the island and we saw him at Fido's twice.
Brian, the owner (and not the last owner I knew there), was extremely accommodating for our group of 46. Try taking a group that size anywhere on Ambergris Caye and it's pretty overwhelming. However, Brian opened up the second floor "balcony" for us and provided waitstaff and a bartender dedicated to us. Pretty classy and we had a great time.
This is, of course, the most famous bar on the island and, in the past, it was a fun bar...but it wasn't really a good restaurant. I'm happy to report that that's changed. The kitchen not only did a great job of keeping up with a very full house, the food there now rivals the better restaurants on the island. Seriously, I was shocked. Pleasantly, but shocked nonetheless.
Now you don't need to worry about grabbing dinner somewhere else before enjoying the live music and friendly bartenders--just make a night of it there!
Much improved food, a lot of fun and holding up very well to the tourist pressure.
