We were here last week Wednesday and i gotta say this place was totally cool. when we got there was few tables but suddenly started getting full.there was only one server and the bartender a small girl who looked like she was in charge...it really amazed us to see how this girl was working. we ordered a bunch of tapas to try different stuff and they were all good. she apologized several times for the slow service that nite but we gotta say the food made up for it cause it was worth waiting.

at the end of the nite she still invited us to have a drink at the bar while she took a minute of her rush and called the boat for us. introduced us with he bosses sister from Argentina and i think it was her boyfriend as server that nite. I am pregnant so only had a soda, however my boyfriend said her mojito was one of the best. some people might not appreciate slow service sometimes but this place had good food, good drinks and the service by Jamie the bartender was just right.

we had to go the following day for happy hour cause she invited us but she was not there. Try aji you wont regret

We went to Aji based on recommendations and the strength of the trip advisor reviews. We were supremely disappointed. While the decor and setting is neat, it can get very hot, and the bathrooms lack sinks. The menu is promising, although the food was unsuccessful across the board. I ordered the Paella Mixta, which was oily, seawater salty, and lacking the crust that typifies paella. My compatriots ordered two fish dishes; while the fish itself was fine, the accompaniment was essentially salad from a bag. They also ordered several tapa, all of which were terrible. The tomato relleno was tasteless, and seemed as though it was cooked in a microwave rather than baked. The fried cheese was promising, but I cannot speak to it as it never arrived at out table. The Abondigas (meatballs) were bland, and appeared to be sourced from the frozen section. The highlight of the meal was the artichoke dip, or rather, the tortilla chips accompanying the dip. Finally, the "rum" cake was just devils food cake - no rum to be found. To top it all off, the service was insulting. Apart from forgetting one of the FOUR tapa we ordered, we had to send the bill back 3 times for overcharging. Furthermore, water was only grudgingly filled on our request. This restaurant was one of the worst I've been to in a while, although there is a chance that they were having an off night. Who knows, but if you are on Ambergris and looking for food - go to San Pedro or Rendezvous.

excellent food - very romantic - good staff
We had a lovely diner; The food was excellent, a bit dry though. It's easy to get there by taxi - bus boat and cheaper than by bike or regular taxi, as there is a fee for the bridge, from San Pedro.

we had our wedding reception dinner here this april and had a wonderful time. not only was the staff very nice and helpful, but the setting is quite unique and beautiful. as you walk along the beach, you find a garden with tables situated in and around a well cared for garden, providing a natural elegance not common in any country. we had roughly 40 ppl for our event and it was a blast--the food was great, their dj did a great job of taking requests in with his own addition to the party and even stayed an extra hour because everyone was having such a good time. highly recommended!

I've never been to a restaurant quite like Aji. It's set in the tropical foliage along the beach on Ambergris and absolutely beautiful. We spent an evening there and it was the most relaxing evening of the trip. The food was delicious as well and very flavorful. There were four of us in our party and we shared 3 main courses and four appetizers so that we could all try several things. The pork dish was good but my favorite was the vegetable paella. Very flavorful and filling. Our favorite appetizer was the bacon wrapped dates. We were tempted to order another round of those! The staff is also very accommodating, taking time to explain each dish and make recommendations.
