Our favourite restaurant on the island, so good we had to go twice! Loved the fish balls, shrimp ceviche and kabobs!

We had a delicious meal at El Fogon - seafood kabobs in mango sauce. The service was excellent. We would recommend El Fogon for dinner and will probably go back next time we are in Belize.

This place is close to the airport, and has the local charm.

The food was great
We had the solbates (sp?) twice as they were my wife's favorites
The fish balls
Grilled shrimp
The ginger Mojitos was refreshing

They like to use fresh ingredients, and will tell you if something is not (or frozen).

One down side which is probably more cultural, or communication barrier.

We ordered a Margarita for 28.00 Belize, that's $14.00 US.
The waiter asked if we wanted patron, or Jose for the Tequila.
He did not say there would be a $25.00 upcharge to do so.

For the owners benefit. Tourist do not mind spending the higher amount, as long as it is discussed first. When it is a surprise, it ruins the experience. We saw past that and returned again for the food and atmosphere

As usual, service was friendly and excellent. I had a grilled shrimp dish with garlic and lime. Unfortunately, it was very salty. I didn't love the rice and beans, but that might be more a function of me than their cooking. The bartender was truly entertaining and personable.

I had a delicious (and reasonably priced) shrimp cocktail dinner here. The service was friendly and quick. Casual dress is fine, good for solo, couples or small groups.
