we were grateful to have found El Fogon early on during our stay in San Pedro so that we were able to visit again for lunch, another dinner and 2 desserts. my partner and i showed up just after they closed and the owner Olive kindly let us come in and have the key lime pie we had heard about. this began a deep affection for Olive, her staff, the menu and the history of her family's ownership of the restaurant. the meat dishes are cooked over a traditional wood hearth. the aroma of the stewed chicken drifts lovingly and enticingly for over a block. the fresh fruit smoothies (our fave....pineapple!) was sooo refreshing. we love the chicken to a fault as well as the frozen key lime pie Olive makes herself. beyond the fresh amazing food, they all just plain and simply made us feel like we were friends welcome in their home. we miss each dish we tried and are making our best efforts to recreate them here at home.

As its name implies a local cooking spot that will not disapoint various dishes to chose from moderately priced and delivered by very service orientated servers . I highly recommend this for dinner very casual and a neat experienced tell them mr pete sent you it won't get you a discount but it will be an ice breaker.

We discovered El Fogon by accident on our last day, and we were really happy we did. We went for dinner and the food was excellent, as was the service. We particularly enjoyed the fish balls - not an inspired name, but absolutely delicious. Also, you must try a Craboo Colada - it is a frothy delicious drink made with a fruit indigenous to the island. The waiter was friendly and attentive - definitely top quality service even compared to others on an island where the service is generally very good. As an aside, they also run a little coffee shop during the day that made an excellent iced coffee. All in all, El Fogon is definitely worth seeking out.

While we enjoyed our grilled fish very much, the conch fritters stole the show. These were the best I have ever had, with large chunks of conch, not just balls of dough with a few shreds of conch like you get elsewhere. Next time I go there I am ordering a double order of conch fritters and will make that my dinner.

Manuel at Las Terrazas stated the food at El Fogon is the best on the island. I will say that the competition is tough, 'O' has also need incredible, as was Aji, and Elvi's.
El Fogon is tucked away on a side street, but don't be fooled. The atmosphere, once u walk in, is very inviting. They will take great care of you, we walked in off the street without a reservation, but one is recommended.
The food will not disappoint either. Definitely competes for best on the island. That is for sure.

Try the fish balls!
