Great place for a great lunch on a budget. Extremely friendly staff makes this a truly fun experience. Most likely our best meal on the island. Ask for Henri or Louis.

“Great Local Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

We ate here twice. Once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times were enjoyable. The night of the dinner we stopped by in the morning to speak with them about their menu and if they had anything interesting on it (we heard a few days prior that they were serving some kind of island rat). They said for lunch that they had pigs tail but they would save some for us for dinner. We also asked if they were serving ceviche, which they were not. However, they made a fresh plate for us. The pigs tail was salty and not very good. BUT... the whole grilled snapper, and the ceviche were fantastic. The next day we had fresh mackrel for lunch which was also enjoyable. Overall a great place to go. Not only for the food, but the owners of the restaurant go above and beyond to make sure that you have a special dining experience.

“Loved the grilled grouper”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

We went here for dinner and the grilled seafood kabos and the grouper where amazing. El Fogon has the feel of sitting in a Belizian women's kitchen. Their homemade hot sauce was great I which I could have bottled it up and brought it home. Everyone was so nice it added to the relaxed feel of San Pedro.

“Some of the best local food on the island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2012

El Fogon is THE place to go for lunch in San Pedro. Don't bother with their Americanized offerings and stick with the local stuff. Fried fish, stewed beef, and stewed chicken are the way to go. You can get all this stuff elsewhere on the island but not with the richness and depth of flavor that El Fogon gets. It really is several steps above the offerings of other places like Elvi's.
