Visiting a friend has never been so good. Not only did i discover when i first landed that i was actually headed to the island from the famous Madonna song, but i discovered every aspect was true. The Pheonix is the only place to stay: excellent staff, great spa, new gym, incredible views, recommendations for the best snorkeling adventure EVER!!!! You must go and stay here.

Room was incredible, full kitchen, washer/dryer, jacuzzi tub. Ocean view with huge balcony and beautiful pool w/ bar. Add an amazing staff. Customer service was amazing.
It's new so will this continue? Restaurant was being remodeled so it's an unknown?

we spent just over a week in the phoenix, was not quite complete and not all rooms were available. but was perfect for us. nice and close to Chuck & Robbies Dive Shop and a short walk the center of San Pedro. Was a bit expensive, but very worth it, the rooms were immaculate, the view awesome (had a 2 bedroom villa with a huge balcony and great views of the ocean). If I was going again with some extra money, i'd definately stay there again.

Without question, a true 5 star resort. By this I mean compared to an international standard, say the best of Europe or USA or Asia where 5star means location, amenities and service. A small place (for sure less that 30 units), 3 story walkup condo/hotel. Fantastic ocean front view and huge wrap balcony from the 2 bedroom unit we were in. Spotless, everything working, state of the art electronics (TV, appliances if you cared to cook, central air - very important! quiet !!!), expected furnishings (king bed, double w/pool bath, walk in shower, double sinks in master ensuite, flat screen tv's, insuite laundry).

Convenient in town locaiton - walk to local restaurants, dive piers, wander backstreets if desired. Rent a bike and head north along the beach to North Ambergris (take the bug repellent). No need to rent a golf cart.

Wonderful manicured pool grounds, bright sun filled, your choice of lap pool, lounging pool, infinity pool. Pool side service for drink or from Wild Ginger (on side excellent restaurant).

Outstanding personal service from everyone, from management level to overnight security to room attendants to front lobby desk. We traveled on from the Phoenix to another Belizian resort - a slight hiccup in transit arrangements: Stacey called us at the next resort to make sure we had arrived.

A beautiful location and top class facitliy is nothing without the service. For people who know and expect the best, this is place in San Pedro for you.

The Phoenix was great for a lot of reasons: proximity to town, very updated and modern amenities, beautiful and spacious condos. The staff were all very nice - from the very beginning we spoke with Mark and then Stacey who were both so reliable and quick about getting back to us, answering questions, etc. Pamela at the front desk was so great - really helped us with advice on various trips, restaurants, and anything we wanted to know about Belize and the culture. The Phoenix would be perfect for families or groups of friends too - it's quiet, roomy, and a good value....but it could have been in downtown San Diego near where we live now. We were lucky that we were able to stay at a resort outside of town that was very beachy, with fabulous service and luxurious grounds (the kind of place where all you want to do is sit in a hammock with tropical drinks) and then also stay at the Phoenix with all its good points because they were extremely different. The first resort was very spirited, had a great island vibe and really felt like vacation - tropical drinks, soft island music, palm trees everywhere - great way for us to get on Belizean time. The Phoenix was nice because you could walk anywhere and arrange your own dive trips from some of the docks that were right outside the resort - we dove with Ched from Reef Adventures on the dock just outside the Phoenix and had the best experience! It was a great location to explore the area - we rented bikes and rode up toward the north, went to a few great restaurants in town and some great stands (dont miss the tamales at the stand outside the front doors), and took some wonderful day trips. We loved our sailing trip to Caye Caulker which stopped at the 2 main snorkeling spots and took a full-day catamaran. We were almost talked out of doing this trip but Pamela helped us book it at the last minute and it was an amazing day.....the sailing was wonderful on a beautiful boat, snorkeling stops were so fun, we saw dolphins and flying fish, went fishing, loved Caye Caulker and it's old island feel, and sailed back right around sunset to a beautiful sky - it was really fun and we got to do a lot this way - we'd highly recommend it! The Phoenix is really nice, it's just less of an island feel since it has flat screen TVs, iPod docks, and very modern features....kind of like the W in a third world country? When we are in a place like Belize we don't even turn on a TV, phone or radio as we like to really get away from it all! But the features would be great, especially if you were cooking on your own a lot (fully equipped kitchens), and if modern luxuries are what you are looking for. The condos are so clean with really comfortable beds and everything you could need as if it was your apartment, but with that I think you give up a little of the low key island and beach feel. We would probably stay here again due to the location and surrounding activities but would definitely split our trip again between a true tropical resort and this one....it just happened to work out for us this way and having been our first time in Belize, for us it was the perfect combination and I can't imagine having missed our first resort....depending on how much time you have it's a good mix and allows you the best of both worlds. We had such a fabulous trip and are so grateful to everyone we met!

On my second trip to Ambergris Caye, I stayed at The Phoenix, an upscale resort that I checked out on my first visit. After spending a week there, I have to say that The Phoenix is by far, the best place to stay on the island. The condominium was spacious and comfortable with beautiful, contemporary decor and a fantastic ocean view. I took advantage of great yoga classes offered at their fitness center and enjoyed the onsite spa. The pool is gorgeous and the Red Ginger offers a fine dining experience unique for the island. All this - plus the convenience of being close to everything that San Pedro has to offer and fantastic staff - friendly and helpful. I couldn't have asked for more and will definitely stay there on my next visit.

This is my 4th trip to Ambergris Caye and this was the best resort we have ever stayed in. The reviews I read before we stayed here made it sound too good to be true but this place really is that great!!! No complaints. Great location, rooms, staff, drinks, etc..... I can't say enough good things about The Phoenix. It made our trip even better! We will definately stay here next time for sure.
