Excellent rooms and a great resort layout. Extremely safe. Friendly inn keepers and sister properties adjoining. The water activities are easy accessible including swimming with the sharks (harmless nurse sharks but who will confess) and stingrays as well as an excellent corral reef to explore. San Pedro is just a water taxi away and offers great restaurant and entertainment possibilities.

Room Tip: All are around the massive pool area but on the beach is my preference.

I have been going to Belize every year, and San Pedro most of all, for the last 13 years. I have stayed in town (San Pedro) as well as at resorts North of town (across the bridge) and Coco Beach is definitely one of the best run properties and locations North of town.

You have an option to either take one of the two water taxi services from town to the resort or rent a golf cart and take the back bay road (from town, over the bridge and about 3.5 miles). Depending the when you take the road (rainy season or when it is drier) will depend on the condition of the road. It has been improved tremendously since I first took it in 2000 but still can be a bit challenging after heavy rains or if you do not like some bumps. Always passable and just adds to the Belize fun in my book, but to each their own.

One you reach the resort. you will be greeted with a fresh towel and rum punch or cold water (go for the rum punch). Your bags are all taken care of and delivered to your room while the staff runs you through a resort orientation while you get checked in, then takes you to your room.

All 2 and three bedroom sea view and casita rooms are well furnished with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, tile floors and great windows and Caribbean style furniture and artwork. Since each unit has a different owner, there are some small differences in artwork and furniture styles but not in the quality. I have stayed in four different units and they have all been solid. The water is treated and the resort claims there is no issue in drinking it. I typically use it for showers and basic hygiene but bottled tastes better and one can never be to safe.

The ocean facing units (Sea Views) both main level and upper levels all have a great balcony with table and chairs to relax in the morning sun or in the evenings. There are privacy walls between each balcony so this provides added privacy and keep some of the potential neighbor noise down. Casitas have a roof deck.

The bathrooms are incredible with tiles walk in showers with a nice stone floor. Bedroom are good size with plenty of storage room.

The common area consist of two pools (shallow and deeper one complete with a raised grotto with a slide and jump platforms). The shallower pool in the front (ocean side) offers a gently sloped walk in beach style entry and is only about 3 feet deep which is perfect for kids or if you just want to set you lounge chair in the water. The bar sits under one of the resort Sea View condo buildings and has several cool features such as water flowing down and pool bar seating in the water (no need to leave the pool to get a tropical drink or Belikin Beer). There is also a nice small beach area along the water that is well maintained and sea grass is cleaned off every morning.

Kayaks and snorkeling equipment is available for rent on the main resort dock and other excursions (diving, fishing, day and sunset catamaran cruises, and inland adventure can be booked from Tuff-E-Nuff Tours located on the sister resort (Belizean Shores) dock just up the beach to the North.

The biggest difference between staying in San Pedro and one of the resorts North of town is the quite and peaceful nature offered at the resorts to the North. You can still take a water taxi into town for dinner and hit some local hot spots and then catch a water taxi to the Coco Beach dock but once get back, it is very quite compared with the beach resorts in town scene. All depends on what you are looking for but if it is quite and relaxation, look no further.

Coco Beach is on the higher end of the resorts so you get what you pay for with respect to accommodations. The rooms toward the back of the resort (pool view) and casitas are still very nice but less expensive than the Sea View units facing the Caribbean located over and to the beach side of the bar.

The restaurant on resort (Cocoblanca I think) offers bar fare during the day (which is also served at the bar and at pool side) and meals at night. It is very nice inside and built with a beautiful spiral staircase leading to the dinning area above Italian theme. Several tables sit in locations that are partially secluded from the main dinning area and offer nice views. The place was just opening when I was there in February 2013 and they were having some typical "new" operational issues with the food consistency. Likely, these have worked out but should probably ask another guest if they have eaten there when you arrive to get a second opinion. There are numerous great places to eat both in San Pedro and at the resorts North of town so you will have lots of options.

Another tip that is helpful if you stay here is that there is a small grocery store located on the property at Captain Morgan's Resort just South (1/4 mile or so) from Coco Beach. This a good place to stock up on cold Belikin beer and some other smaller items. If you need lots of groceries, there are a few larger grocery stores in San Pedro. Also, there are companies that offer grocery service to stock your room prior to your arrival for a fee. Check out www.lagniappe-belize.com or other equivalent service who has ordering forms online.

One other spot that should be on the must see is a the Palapa Bar that sits over the water and is located about 2 miles south of Coco Beach. Again you can get a water taxi to drop you off here. You can float in an inner tube with a bucket of ice cold bear while basking in the tropical sun or hang out on the upper covered deck overlooking the water and just watch the boats go by, enough said.

Coco Beach is also one of the best kid friendly resorts due to the shallow pool and hot tub. Had a hard time getting my kids out of the water but that's what they were their for.

Enjoy!

My husband and I recently stayed at Coco Beach for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. From the minute we arrived on the property, we were greeted with kindness and given direction and great information about the property, amenities and surrounding activities and restaurants! Our room was amazing - beautiful view of the ocean and pool, clean, new, fully stocked condo, huge balcony (unit E-4) and they even decorated our bed with flower petals as an anniversary treat. Every single person we encountered on the staff - Deon, Zoya, Amy - and everyone else - truly - were so nice, accommodating and fun! The food was great and they made everything so easy for a fun and relaxing vacation. Everyone in Belize was great, truly, great food, great time, I can't wait to go again. I think Coco Beach was probably one of the nicest properties in Ambergris Caye. Its a little far from town - San Pedro - but really not a big deal at all - its a quick boat ride - and there are tons of fun, charming restaurants and things all around! Great drinks and food - everything fresh and made from scratch!

Room Tip: We had a great balcony, but I don't know that all rooms do. I will say our water was crazy hot...

Great service, great place to stay. I would suggest renting a golf cart for your entire visit. I've stayed there for two vacations and loved it which is why I returned the second time. You will more than likely want to go to town for fun and food although there is a lot to do at the resort. There is a water taxi but my group found that the cart ride, although rough, was an adventure each time... and we went almost every night and plan to go again next year.

Room Tip: If its during the Jerry Jeff Walker festival or their busy season, book early for beach front or poo...

Me and my friends stayed at Coco Beach Resort March 2013. It's a beautiful, well-maintained property with great accommodations. We stayed in a 2 bdrm oceanfront villa and loved it. I'd return and definitely would recommend to others.

Room Tip: Definitely choose the ocean front location. Great views and you get wonderful crosswinds.

We stayed at Coco Beach in April 2013 and loved it. It's a beautiful resort, very clean, well-kept. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, it's convenient to San Pedro Town (via bike or golf cart, which you can rent easily at the front desk, or frequent ferry from the pier), and the setting is idyllic.
Diving, snorkeling, and other trips can be booked right on the pier via Tuff E Nuff tours. Their staff are spectacular -- friendly, accommodating, and knowledgable.
The on-site restaurant is a overly stuffy to fit in with the island vibe, but you can eat next door at Belizean Shores (also provides room service to Coco Beach) or head to town for more varied options.

Room Tip: C5 (a penthouse) has ocean and pool view and can be rented with either one or two bedrooms available...

We stayed in a 2 BR, 2BA 1st floor villa right on the beach (B1), for spring break in late March. It was only my husband and I since our 16 year old son could not make it at the last minute - tons of room and storage!! The villa was beautiful, incredibly clean, tastefully decorated, and had anything you needed if you wanted to eat in, which we only did for breakfast. If you are looking for quiet, stay on the beach, and avoid the pool areas since there are lots of kids and music (which is not bad at all really), but would be if you wanted to chill on the patio and read a book. Our son would have LOVED it though - kayaks and paddle boards within steps of villa, and the pool and rock/diving formation would have been a huge hit - little kids and teenagers of all ages seemed to make friends quickly and had a blast!!! Had rum, diet soda, milk, homemade salsa, yummy tortilla chips and other "staples" waiting for us in refrigerator upon arrival, delivered by Mata Grande Grocery - a must do, plus convenient if you have kids. Staff was fantastic - kudos to everyone there including Larry the Pool Guy who made you feel incredibly welcome and helped you with anything you needed, as well as Amy and Zoby. The reservation staff, especially Paula and Cat, were wonderful!! Rent a bike and ride it down the beach to San Pedro, stopping at The Palapa Bar for a drink, and for a few more in San Pedro. if you are tired and don't want to ride back, give the water taxi guys a good tip, and they'll take you and your bikes back. :). We did full-day snorkeling trip to Caulker Caye (including Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley) through Tuff-N-Nuff, then another full-day snorkeling trip to Bacalar Chico through Seadventures - both VERY cool!! Loved Wild Mango's, and Blue Water Grille was so so, in SP. Capricorn and Rendezvous, walking distance on beach from hotel, were good too. Mambos at Matachica Resort had awesome atmosphere, and they have a speed boat that picks you up from CB. Loved Coco Beach and will definitely go back with son! Have been to St. John's and St. Croix many times...the beaches there are definitely different than Belize beaches, but change is good!!!! You will not be sorry!!!!'
