My buddies and I are avid divers. There simply is no better diving location than Belize and specifically Ambergious Caye! I have stayed many times at the Grand Colony Villas - I was one of the first owners. I have NEVER been disappointed with my stay at Grand Colony. I have been to many vacation destinations and there is no place that has a much to offer. The units are always in perfect working condition and always clean! I could not tell you how much this place means to me. It is truly my oasis!

Love it! The people are friendly & helpful. Great food...favorites are Victoria House, Sunset Grill, Crave, Hidden Treasure & always a lunch or two at Fido's. Rico's & El Divino's are close and good as well when you just want to stay in and relax. Great snorkeling, fishing, and one member of family dives.

Great terrace overlooking the water! I look forward to this trip every year.

My husband and I stayed at Grand Colony Island Villas over Memorial Day weekend with my sister to help celebrate a milestone birthday in an exotic but relaxing location. Grand Colony fit the bill perfectly. We loved the fact that we were close enough to "downtown" that we could walk if we wanted the exercise, but far enough away that it felt like we were on our own private island. The units were spacious. Dressing room style closets had plenty of hangars, the master bath was huge with a jacuzzi and 2 sinks. When we first arrived we were originally placed in a 2 BR suite on the 2nd floor which unfortunately had A/C issues. Sylvia graciously moved us to a first floor 3BR when it became obvious that the A/C could not be easily fixed and we stayed there for the rest of our 5 night stay in very cool comfort. Although both units were adviertised as pool, rather than ocean, view you could easily see the beach from both of them. We loved the 3BR on the first floor with easier access to the pool and beach. Our patio with lounge chairs was a wonderful haven to sit and enjoy the birds and breezes. Even though there isn't a bar or restaurant on the property, Ricos at Banyan Bay next door was quite pleasant and taking a $5 cab or hitching a ride with a passing golfcart was fairly easy to get to all of the other restaurants.

The beach area in front of the Grand Colony is very nice and much better than quite a few of the popular hotels, including Banana Beach next door. The guys raking the sea grass did a wonderful, although never ending job, but their efforts made the beach experience very pleasant. The pool with its 2 side tiers a bit higher than but connected to the center deep pool, made it so the users could feel like they had their private area of the pool.

Our only issues with the Grand Colony were that the nicely equipped kitchen lacked some basics such as salt, pepper and sugar and that the wifi internet was very iffy. Internet reception only appeared available if one was outside on the patio and carefully positioned the laptop. However, since the purpose of the trip was vacation and we could get on the internet when needed to check our return flight, these were very minor items.
Would definitely stay here again and have recommended it to friends and colleagues already.

My new Fiance and I just got back from our stay at the Grand Colony Villas. The room was amazing, large master bedroom and master bathroom with tile shower with lots of room and a jetted tub. Two sinks and plenty of cupboard space below. There are 2 closets with hangers in the room plus a safe in one. Flat screen TV's in both bedrooms and living room. The 2 bedroom units come either with a King and a Queen or a King and 2 twins. We had the twins but did not use the room except for extra storage of our luggage. The dining room has a table that seats 6 and sits next to a huge window that over looks the Caribbean and the pool. The granite counter-tops, the stainless steel kitchen appliances, the A-1 wood furnishings, the fancy stone surfaces in the bathrooms (yes 2 in the villa!). Having a washing machine and dryer in the room was great. We swam, dived, rode bikes and walked so you will sweat a little in may was a little humid but the ocean breeze helped a lot.

The service from the staff was exceptional. I had been working with Romar for a few months in planning this trip and he made everything happen as well as Frank and Sylvia who were very friendly and helpful too. They picked us up from the airport and took us back when we left. They helped arrange for golf cart rental, bikes and getting to the Holy Cross School we were volunteering at while there. we truly were pleased. Carlos and Junior were two of the security staff on site. They always greeted us when we arrived back at the villas and opened the cab doors for us. Very friendly and informative on what to see and where to get good deals on things.

The beach in front of the Grand Colony is beautiful, white sand lots of lounge chairs a huge dock where many dive boats can pick-you up from and you can swim all around it and see lots of fish and rays. You can easily see the reef from the beach as well. We were able to see it from our room and it was great. If you want to order room service you can do it through Rico's Restaurant which is owned by Grand Colony but over at Banyan Bay. The prices are reasonable and the food is good.

Overall, the hotel property itself was FANTASTIC and we are planning to go back hopefully in January. We got engaged on a sunset cruise that helped make it even better.

This is the place top go and well worth it in every way. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GRAND COLONY VILLAS!!!!!

The condo was immaculate, well laid out, comfortable in every way. Staff was friendly and always seemed to be there when needed. We liked being a 10 min. bike ride (or 25 min. walk along the beach) from town, because we found some great places for lunch and dinner there. The swimming off the beach is not great because of low visibility and sea grass, but then that is the case everywhere on the island. The snorkeling was disappointing in comparison to our experience in Cozumel 10 years ago. The coral does not appear to be thriving, and the number of colorful tropical fish is not impressive. We did see nurse shark and many very large rays. Wonderful people on the island and very tranquil vibe. We were advised not to walk back to the hotel at night, but we never saw any reason to be afraid.

We visited Ambergris Caye for the first time and were fortunate to stumble on to the Grand Colony. The service was great, Romar made us feel like he would do anything for us. The room was great. It would have been nice to have a restaurant and/or bar on property. Also, i guess it was due to time of year but the place seemed too quiet in our opinion our first 4 days on property we only saw 2 other occupants.
Over all this place was fantastic, especially if you are looking to get away from it all, and relax without too much activity.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your review, Your comments make us a much better resort, we are happy that you had fun with us and enjoyed our villas and yes we are looking to adding more amenties to the resort, the bar at the pool should be completed soon and for the restaurant, yes we do have one but it is not located in the property we share the restaurant with Banyan Bay which it used to be affiliated with Grand Colony Island Villas, Very soon we should have the restaurant on our property.

Looking forward for your next visit to Grand Colony and Belize. Thank you once more for your review

Grand Colony was everything we expected as advertised on their website and the TripAdvisor. Our luxury 3rd flr ocean view 2 bdrm unit was clean and the staff was well trained and responsive to all of our requests. The owner who is a true gentleman lives on the property with his family. The pool, beach , and grill on the property made for a relaxing day. The Dive and Tour Center on the beach made excursions easy. Scuba , Snorkeling, and Saltwater Fly Fishing in the clear waters are some of the best in the world. A $5 USD Taxi ride will get you to the center of San Pedro where you can enjoying shopping and dining. For those who want luxury at the hidden treasure of San Pedro Belize , Grand Colony is the place.
