On our third recent visit to Belize, my adult daughter and I had the good fortune to stay at the Tranquility Bay Resort. This was the last stop on our 16 day visit, and it was the best part of the trip. The location ( a 30 minute boat ride from San Pedro) is perfect for anyone looking for a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In an area designated as a World Heritage Site, we were able to walk for miles on deserted white sand beaches. This is one of the few places in Belize where you can snorkel right off the beach in front of your cabana. The water is pristine and the reef is very close, giving you access to an abundance of marine life. We particularly loved the parade of spotted eagle rays that swam by in formation each evening (up to 14 on some nights!). From the deck of the resort's small restaurant,/bar which is built out over the water, every evening meal was enjoyed while watching the rays, barracudas, tarpons and swarms of smaller fish that were attracted to the lighting under the deck. The meals were good and reasonably priced. Our cabana was a nicely furnished one bedroom unit right under the coconut palms on the beach. The unit could actually sleep 6, as it had a loft with another bed, as well as a sofa bed. A small kitchenette (microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator) was perfect for snacks. Breakfast was included in the nightly rate. The young Canadian couple who manage the resort are gracious and accommodating. All of the staff were extremely pleasant. If you visit, be sure to ask Raul (a native Belizian who helps out at the resort) to take you on a nature walk. He's a real character, and knows all about the flora, fauna, marine life, and Mayan history of Ambergris Caye.

My husband and I stayed at this cute little boutique resort over the Christmas Holiday. We stayed in the one bedroom/one bath cabana and found it to be very roomy and comfortable. There was an air-conditioned bedroom downstairs and a wonderful loft bedroom with a ceiling fan upstairs which we loved. Access to the beach could not have been better. Staff was wonderful, especially our bartender, Hill, and the dive staff - Oscar, Max, and Gordy - took wonderful care of us and the diving was great. Thanks to Carlos and Isabelle (managers) who made our stay truly one of our best.

My husband and I traveled to Belize for our Honeymoon last May. We LOVED Tranquility! We got to know Carlos and Isabelle, along with Billy, Roy, and many more! It was so great - they are very knowledgeable about the area, the day trips, and any other question we could think to ask. Our accommodations were awesome. Sitting in your cabana staring out at the water will take your breath away. I thought that we would want to go out a night or two for dinner to change it up, but the food was so amazing, that we could even think of leaving! We had the best beach on Ambergris Caye and the restaurant/bar was over the water, with ample views of barracudas, sea rays, and other fish. We swam out to the reef from the beach, a short jaunt, and saw tons of fish and coral. Our most exciting find was a Nerf Shark that we got to take pictures by. The pictures turned out great cause the water was so amazingly clear. Fishing with Roy is a must. We were able to bring in two barracuda's! Mine was bigger :). I'm an adventure gal, while my husband would rather sit on the beach all day. We were able to both get what we wanted. Besides the 1/2 day of fishing with Roy, we took a full day snorkeling trip, and a trip into town to look around. Great place, amazing food, awesome personal service. We LOVED it!!!!

We could not have had a better experience at Tranquility Bay. The staff was so incredibly friendly, our cabana was clean and well kept the entire time. I would think of something we needed and they were at our front door with it before we could ask. Looking out the front door of our cabana was like looking at paradise, white sandy beach, palm trees, blue skies and blue ocean. This is the perfect getaway retreat for someone who wants a break from reality. We were there on our honeymoon but can't wait to take friends and family back. Everyday the choices were endless: walk on the beach, swim out to the second largest coral reef (300 yds from your front door), collect shells, read, nap, sunbathe, drink belikins, eat great food or you could go on one of the many day trip snorkeling, scuba, sightseeing adventures. Our favorite part of the trip was the romantic dinner that was staged for us by the wonderful people at Tranquility Bay on the beach. We enjoyed every minute of our vacation and can't wait to visit them again.

That's how you'll feel!!!

Its peaceful, its quiet and its beautiful!!!
My husband & I enjoyed our 4 days at Tranquility Bay SO MUCH!!
The staff is amazing but its all about LOCATION!!!

The snorkeling was amazing! They have free kayaks available to us, we saw a little bit of everything. Most days we hung with Captain Zib he knows the island like the back of his hand. We saw a large manatee, eagle rays, sting rays, sand sharks, turtles, moray eels, shirmp, SO MANY COLORFUL FISH and lots of live Coral. We loved it.

Food & drinks are pricey so be sure to stock up before handing to the island.
But if you don't... fear not....the Bartender & Wait staff are so entertaining....ENJOY!!!

Don't forget the bug spray along with the sunscreen, hat, underwater camera, a good book and more sunscreen : )
