My husband and I decided to take a walk down the beach from our resort and we ended up at Matachica. We decided to have dinner and were asked if we had reservations. We responded no and were told that they would, "have to see if there was room". We looked around the dining area to see if maybe we missed something, but we saw that there were maybe 2-3 tables occupied in the entire establishment. We were seated and service was exceptionally slow. We felt it was good food, but overpriced and the staff was rude. We had no desire to go back.
Another night a couple that we had become friends with at our resort asked if we wanted to share a boat to dinner at a restaurant they were going to, Mambo. We said sure and made reservations ahead of time for two tables for two. (it was our honeymoon and their romantic vacation) We were surprised when we pulled up to Matachica, but turns out their restaurants name is Mambo. We decided to give it a second chance seeing as how we had reservations this time. We couldn't have been more wrong about it all. The staff didn't even have our reservation, and then proceeded to say that would, "have to see if there was room" in their empty dining area! We were the first ones seated for dinner and first to order. We ordered drinks, appetizer, and entree all at once since we already knew the menu. They seated maybe 4 other tables and they all got dinner and drinks before us. By the time we got dinner and drinks we were ready to leave. We ate and had to sit around for over 15 minutes for the table to be cleared and after we asked for the check the waitress just disappeared. (she wasn't scurrying around the restaurant either...everyone had already finished their food and left at this point) We finally paid her and fled as quickly as possible due to our disappointment once again.
Oh, and the atmosphere was very trendy and stuffy...not what I expected in a restaurant on the beach in San Pedro.
The food is the only saving grace here.
