Description: The Original Pancake House was founded in Portland, Oregon in 1953 by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke. Drawing upon their many years of experience in the culinary field, and their extensive working knowledge of authentic national and ethnic pancake recipes they were able to offer without compromise this unique and original menu which has gained national acclaim. Our recipes demand only the very finest of ingredients, such as 93 score butter, pure 36% whipping cream, fresh grade AA eggs, hard wheat unbleached flour, and our own recipe sourdough starter. Welcome to our house, we’re serving up the Next Best Thing to Breakfast in Bed!

“been to better”
Reviewed January 18, 2012

We have eaten at many locations of the original pancake house, but this one was just ok. Went on Saturday morning, pretty empty, took a few minutes for someone to come and seat us, then didn't know where to put 7 of us in this basically empty restaurant. Once seated, it took some time to be offered coffee. Table was already set with cutlery(place settings) which out of the 7 placed on our table(already wrapped in a napkin) 4 were dirty. When one of our party members decided to use the restrooms, there was a sign outside the mens room saying no running water. Which made us very concerned how our server was washing his hands after using the restrooms. Restrooms were in a dismal state. The food was ok, nothing special, did offer gluten free pancakes.

“The Only Place to go for Breakfast!”
Reviewed December 10, 2011

We love to go to the Original Pancake House and this time was as great as ever.
Tips: order the baked omelette (egg white if you're a healthy eater like me). They are huge!!!
Tips: ask for Pamella to serve you....she's friendly, attentive and has a great smile!
Tips: also fantastic is the Dutch Baby (didn't order it this time).
Tips: Arrive early on the weekends as there is often a lineup.
Enjoy......

“That's what I get for being lazy and not cooking my own.”
Reviewed August 31, 2011

I must keep it brief because there's not much too say but, cook your own breakfast or opt for Denny's, IHOP, etc...My french toast looked disgusting and the taste complimented, the turkey sausage that came with it was cold. The corned beef hash had waaay too much salt and my friends omelet was milky like. Stir clear folks!!!

“Icky!”
Reviewed June 13, 2011

We were the first ones in the door on a Mon morning. The floor was a mess, the first few tables had not been cleaned from the night before, our table was sticky+when the waitress brought the syrup, the top of the bottle was covered in syrup. Apparently no one believes in side work or prep work bc when I finally ordered the Eggs Ben, I was told there was no Hollandaise sauce made yet. We have now been waiting 35 min for our food + there are only 2 others tables of 2 here. And btw what kind of breakfast place doesn't make home fries? I asked the waitress if the "potato medley" was good + she said she she didn't know. Go to the OPH in Ft. Lauderdale.

“Yuck.”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

Not a nice place. Expensive. Most pancakes have peanut oils in them per the menu and our son has peanut allergies. We explained the allergy situation to our waiter, and asked if he knew which types of pancakes did not have peanut additives. He said they all did. So I said we might have to leave. I then asked if the waffles had peanut oil and he said no, but it was not very convincing. It was obviously more of a guess. We went with the french toast.
Not very good. Yucky atmosphere. Bad service.
