“Great place to get your Fried Seafood Fix”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

This is a great place to get your Fried Seafood Fix (yes they also have non-fried items, which are also very good). The service is friendly, and the food is always very good, and extremely plentiful (come hungry). Drinks are also reasonably priced if you are a drinker (beer is personally recommended to go with the fried seafood).

The Seafood Shack is positioned directly on the river, and has an open deck which is a great place to relax, watch the boats (and big ships) come up/down the river in the right weather.

Remember that this place is just as it's name says "seafood shack" so the décor is like that ... rustic and basic, but as noted above -- the food is worth the wait. Expect to wait for a while in the nicer weather and warmer months.

If you are coming from the north, a nice "before or after" excursion is to take the car ferry across the river (watch the times) ... it's only $5 for a car, and is a fun little trip before or after dinner.

“Thumbs Up”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Excellent, friendly service, fresh and perfectly prepared seafood. reminded me of Bonita Springs Fl a long time ago when you could still get fresh seafood from an actual fisherman.

Yes a lot of tourists go here, why shouldn't they? its a great place to eat.

Enjoy yourselves here, I certainly did.

“Waste of time”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

First we waited 30 minutes to be seated. Fine its a popular place. But then it took an hour to get our food once we sat down. Not a good idea when we were there with a baby. We were given no warning that it was going to take so long. Then to add insult to injury my food was cold AND overcooked. I will not be back. Looking forward to when Safe Harbour reopens.

“Great Fried Shrimp !”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

Come to this restaurant with an adventurous attitude. It's not the most appealing place. It's an old
building on the water with amazing fried shrimp probably caught that day. The fresh catch sandwich is a good choice for lunch too.Try the black beans and rice as a side.Treat yourself to the Minorcan clam chowder, too. It's a tomato based chowder with lots of chopped clams. Not your typical clam chowder but delicious.
