Love the picnic benches rustic atmosphere. Good food, enjoy sitting out in the screened in porch for beer and shrimp

“a nice dive”

A national park employee recommended this place to us. They catch their own food to serve. Doesn't get fresher than that. It is a "shack" that is filled with friendly servers delivering great sea food. Good menu choices for a good price. I would Highly recommend the deviled crab.

“Enjoy It For What It Is”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

The name says it all; the Ritz it ain't. It's a seafood shack, not so clean, kind of smelly, cats wondering around outside, but it's pretty darn neat and a must to visit if you're passing by on A1A heading for, or coming off, the St. Johns River Ferry. A must, like it or not, and there's plenty of fresh fish and other critters right out of the nearby waters, lots of cold beer to wash it all down, and a great bunch of people who'll wait on you and keep you happy. However... I'd be real selective about what I'd choose to order. Select fresh items - like clams, shrimp, crabs and whatever fish was recently caught - plus chowders (both the white and red clam chowders are terrific), and avoid fried items and sandwiches, which are more bread than seafood and are accompanied by nothing else. No veggies, just like an Arby's beef on a bun. No crunch; real boring. Maybe it was a bad day, but I'd also avoid the shrimp burger, which was less edible than the hockey pucks that I played with as a kid. But fresh critters steamed are real good... as they should be down here on the water. Personally, I find the Georgia shrimp tastier, but the ones at Singleton's are not bad at all. Yes, it's definitely worth stopping by when you're around these parts.

“Best seafood in Jacksonville, from the boat docked outside to your plate!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

Great seafood, great view of the St. John's, and the Mayport shrimp boats are docked right outside. Nothing fancy, and we like it that way. The Singleton's are Jacksonville's first family of seafood and it shows. The food could not be better, the waitresses have all been there forever and they have something for everyone even the landlubbers. A Jacksonville/Mayport institution not to be missed!

Love the atmosphere. Love the wait staff and cooks! Food is amazing...nothing else compares. Try the clam chowder, fried shrimp, and conch fritters!
